I am "less celebratory" about Kimmel coming back and "more pissed off" that it happened at all

Yes. Of course it is good news that he's coming back. And one aspect of this that may have been under-reported (and it IS a COVER YOUR ASS MOVE by ABC / Disney) is that his CREW was reportedly paid through the downtime.

But the reason I'm not doing the happy dance and popping champagne corks is that this never should have happened in the first place.

It's like any form of abuse. Once the abuser stops, there is obviously relief, but that doesn't wipe away the abuse.

And I don't give a flying fuck about Trump's "I AM YOUR RETRIBUTION" campaign bullshit. We KNEW that when John Roberts anointed him as the Christ Child 2025, he'd be a non-stop asshole.

So yeah, welcome back Jimmy, BUT I'M STILL PISSED THAT THIS HAPPENED and the network relenting DOESN'T WIPE AWAY THE STENCH.

and I hope he doesn't and won't apologize or ease up on his criticism of Trump and MAGA. It's interesting, though, that Disney/ABC folded so quickly - it's funny how losing piles of money in a few days can get the oligarchs' attention. I wonder if they expected that much of a backlash?

...was worse than what the public could do to them. That was until they received a flood of well-earned toxic publicity and started bleeding subscribers.

ABC may have caved, but the local station duopoly still has regulatory issues that will make them subservient to the authoritarian regime. I am preparing to catalog local advertisers on those stations, with a proposal to boycott those businesses if they continue to buy advertising on stations that ban Kimmel (or anyone else) to satisfy the Orange Man's ego.
