Congressman Joe Neguse, representing the 2nd District of Colorado...
This is why I am so proud to be a Democrat. We are NOT the same as Republicans. We are just fundamentally different people and the corporate media is WORTHLESS. Well done Rep. Joe Neguse!

(21,801 posts)Do you want every Democratic response to be a 20 second sound bite?
Orrex
(66,310 posts)Because every Republikkkan lie is a 5-second soundbyte that the compliant MSM is happy to replay thousands of times. Democrats need to come up with equally brief responses, and they're generally not very good at it.
Granted, that's in part because it takes longer to refute a lie than to tell it, but Repubs aren't going to stop lying, nor is the MSM going to stop repeating those lies.

(1,794 posts)That puts him to the top of my list of leaders who should have the baton in hand by now, right there with Jasmine, AOC, Swallwell, and many others.
He is 41 years old. We really don't need those octogenarians. We have a great team of progressive leaders. The boomers need to step aside.
And the age bullies here can chill. I'm not that far from being an octogenerian. My generation has had our chance. We need to pass the baton. We have a great bench. They shouldn't be riding the bench.

(2,944 posts)it differently. He's an elected representative and they should all be asked the hard questions. They should also answer the questions as asked, regardless of how squirmy it may feel, and not change the subject like this. It's absolutely required to ALSO add this information to the response, but he never answered the actual question. I find this unacceptable from any angle. They all do it and it's about time they stopped doing it and stand proud of their position in front of the cameras and the public. I'm growing very tired of this nonsense. State your position without hesitation and say it like it is.
In addition, ALL questions from reporters that contain statements should be completely ignored. For example: "We know you are a complete idiot, but what will you do about xxxx?" This is an obvious exaggeration, but you get the point. These are not reporters, these are political operatives posting as journalists, and they should be shunned when they do it. That question should simply be "regarding subject xx, what is your position?". Period.
It's time to put an end to this side-show style politics, we need representatives and journalists, not a modern version of Barnum & Bailey.
Skittles
(168,366 posts)he didn't CHANGE THE SUBJECT - he reframed the question AS IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN ASKED - THAT is how you deal with REPUKE PROPAGANDA
ForgedCrank
(2,944 posts)is what I'm talking about. You don't need journalists to make up and answer your own questions.
And if you read the entirety of my comment, you would have nothing left to argue about.
And yes, I am for real. There are some of us left out here ho want a government that answers to us. We don't want a soap opera, we want representative government.
bsiebs
(895 posts)I do not believe that we need to take their construct of the issue to drive the conversation. There is nothing improper about providing a better perspective of the issue before providing an answer... that, in my opinion, is part of the legitimate answer...
100%. But he never did answer the question, and that is the part I'm sick of. He had a golden opportunity to tell the public exactly why they are handling this the way that they are, but he instead wasted the entire thing bashing on Trump and his crew, you know, that shtick that fill 99% of the "news" cycle and does nothing to further progress. Sure, like I said before, that needs to be PART of the answer, but the question still needs addressed and it wasn't.
And I don't mean to target him specifically, they all do this, all of the time. The Republicans are even worse about it. I'm just getting tired of it, we deserve open, honest, and complete answers when they are asked, that's all I ask for from someone who insists that they want to be elected to represent.
Skittles
(168,366 posts)time to throw it right back into their faces with what the REAL ISSUES are - and guess what - it AIN'T DEMS
ForgedCrank
(2,944 posts)did I say to ignore the Trump factor. In fact, I very specifically said that it needs to be a PART of the answer. "Re-framing the question" isn't what we need, we need the question answered, and it wasn't. He can add all he wants to it, but answer the question first.
In fact, this has been the standard method of handling questions for a very long time, and yea, look where it has gotten us.
Actual details of why Democrats are handling this the way they are consist of a minute portion of what reaches the public, and I find that to be unacceptable. He blew an opportunity by giving us another wheelbarrow full of what we already have plenty of.
Skittles
(168,366 posts)he didn't BLOW it, he did what ALL Dems should be doing

ForgedCrank
(2,944 posts)did use the word ignore. But you either refuse to acknowledge my entire statemetns, or it's magicaly invisible to you because it doesn't serve this apparent need to argue.
My original statement: "ALL questions from reporters that contain statements should be completely ignored"
Then I said "No where did I say to ignore the Trump factor."
Both statements are true, and I never said to ignore the Trump factor.
It would really help you a lot if you actually read stuff.
KT2000
(21,785 posts)and uses so-called journalists to repeat it, as this reporter just did. Eventually they control the narrative and the Democrats are put into the defensive position.
Rep. Neguse refused to play into their hands and established a narrative the included more information and the Democrats point of view. Kudos to him. That is a great politician who knows what he is doing.
Please insist that Republicans answer questions - truthfully.
ForgedCrank
(2,944 posts)that they all answer questions truthfully.
Not sure if you read my original comment that was attacked. I'm not a lock-step lemming, I challenge all of them, especially Democrats because they are supposed to be representing me. Just because I demand that my representatives actual represent does not in some way mean I absolve Republicans. They are the problem of the Republicans to deal with, not us. If they want to act like children and dodge questions, then we can criticize that. If MY representatives do it, I will also criticize them.
Again, read my entire entire original comment because the entire context actually matters. Loaded bullshit questions from journalists that contain statements should be completely ignored. Reporters and journalists are supposed to ask questions, not lay a foundation first. Their "question" should be ignored if they waste their turn on such nonsense. Neguse wasted an opportunity to explain to the voters what they are doing and why. Instead, we got more useless garbage that accomplished nothing to support our cause.

You can't because they are not here. Likely so there cannot be a vote to release the entirety of the Epstein files.
