Former Republican Speaker Kevin McCarthy, after Republicans won the House in 2022: "Americans are ready for a new direction, and House Republicans are ready to deliver."

McCarthy's successor Mike Johnson, today: "I would like us to get back to normal Congress, it's just no one knows what that looks like anymore."
