Bari Weiss has added another Fox News star to her list of potential 'CBS Evening News' anchors

Source: Independent

While it has already been reported that Weiss is eyeing Fox News chief political anchor Bret Baier and CNN star Anderson Cooper for the role, despite both making eight-digit salaries and being locked into contracts with rival networks, The Guardian revealed Friday that another name has entered the fray: Fox News anchor Dana Perino.

Perino, a former George W. Bush spokesperson, has been with the conservative cable giant since 2009 and currently serves as both a co-anchor of the midday news broadcast America’s Newsroom and a panelist on the top-rated roundtable program The Five.

Much like Baier, who shot down the CBS News rumors this week by making it clear he’s signed with Fox News through 2028, Perino has a long-term contract with the right-wing network. In fact, as The Guardian pointed out, she’s locked into her Fox News deal until the 2030s.

While it seems highly unlikely that Perino would be able to jump to CBS due to her contract – she would need to negotiate a buyout with Fox owners Rupert and Lachlan Murdoch – one this is abundantly clear: she is a self-described “huge fan” of Weiss, and vice versa.

I have watched CBS news since I was knee high to a grasshopper. We got our TV in 1955. Black and white, Edward R. Murrow and then Walter Cronkite. I feel like I'm watching a funeral now.

when Uncle Walter ruined their war by letting it slip on air that we were all being lied to. This isn't the first go round. They lose their core audience and don't gain anyone from the propaganda channels cuz stupid people learn real slow.

Bari Weiss will get his ass handed to him soon enough and they'll be back to sanitized corporate crapola.

not that it makes much difference here, poison is poison.

Thanks for the correction. It's what comes of not being able to see pictures clearly unless my nose is right up against the screen.

The Atlantic.

Appearing on National Public Radio's light-hearted quiz show "Wait, Wait . . . Don't Tell Me,", Perino got into the spirit of things and told a story about herself. During a White House briefing, a reporter referred to the Cuban Missile Crisis -- and she didn't know what it was.

"I was panicked a bit because I really don't know about . . . the Cuban Missile Crisis. It had to do with Cuba and missiles, I'm pretty sure." (Ya’ think…)

"I came home and I asked my husband. I said, 'Wasn't that like the Bay of Pigs thing?'

And he said, 'Oh, Dana.' "

Yeah. I wonder if Bari Weiss knows the difference?

because it would be hard to outfox fox. They are an evil unto themselves. But, CBS is getting close and making a good effort.

They have partnered in the past back in the 1990's, so could this be what CBS is hoping for? Is CBS hoping for a takeover or purchase offer? Is CBS trying to be subtle in creating the right conditions for another joint venture?

I guess she wants to be THE female in charge over a group of men. Better watch out guys, Physical neutering might be a requirement to be employed at CBS.
