Trump Administration Reportedly Approved National Guard Shooting Suspect's Asylum Application: CNN

Source: MEDIAite

Nov 26th, 2025, 9:28 pm

The suspect in the shooting of two National Guardsmen in Washington, D.C. on Wednesday reportedly had his asylum application approved by the Trump administration earlier this year, according to CNN.

“What we know is that he comes here from Afghanistan. Now, this is a guy who’s been living in Washington state, not Washington, D.C. On the other end of the country,” reported CNN Chief Law Enforcement and Intelligence Analyst, John Miller:

He comes here from Afghanistan in the Summer of 2021. Remember what that was like? Refugees fleeing Afghanistan, people had to be recommended by U.S. people on one end, vetted on this end by government background checks as far as they could do in Afghanistan, have sponsors and so on. He settled in Washington, he applies for asylum in December of 2024. Now, he goes through another vetting process involving that, and he’s approved for asylum in April of this year under the Trump administration. He comes in under the Biden administration, these checks are being done.

militarily and provided intelligence and risked all should they be exposed -- and then the Trump admin deports them. Or doesn't give them asylum. This after the U.S. have been making promises all along that we would take care of them. I don't have any links right now to these stories, but I've read them over the past several months and I am extremely very appalled by them.

Naturally that means that in the future, people who might assist us won't believe our promises and so don't help us.

I did see this article today:

US pauses Afghan immigration requests after National Guard shooting, USA Today, 11/27/25
https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/us-pauses-afghan-immigration-requests-after-national-guard-shooting/ar-AA1RdCKn

Unfortunately this is an endlessly long article, but here is one excerpt

Advocacy group: Shooting should not be used to 'diminish an entire community'
Shawn VanDiver, the president of #AfghanEvac, said the organization is "deeply saddened by the tragic attack" in D.C. He noted that the group supports the suspect "facing full accountability and prosecution under the law."

"We reject and condemn anyone who uses, or seeks to use, violence, and we stand with every American who is horrified and saddened by this crime," VanDiver said in a statement. "There is no excuse — no context, no grievance, no ideology — that justifies the actions of the shooter."

VanDiver also underscored that the suspect’s actions should not be "used as an excuse to define or diminish an entire community."

"Afghan immigrants and wartime allies who resettle in the United States undergo some of the most extensive security vetting of any population entering the country," VanDiver said. "As with any serious crime, authorities will examine how this happened and whether any systems failed — and we support a fact-based review. But nothing we learn will change the simple truth that this individual alone is responsible for his actions."

#AfghanEvac is an advocacy group and coalition that helps resettle Afghans who assisted the U.S. government and military in Afghanistan.

From NPR today:

CIA Director John Ratcliffe said in an emailed statement Thursday that the shooter involved in the attack, who came to the U.S. from Afghanistan in 2021, was admitted into the U.S. "due to his prior work with the U.S. Government, including CIA."

“including CIA”? Hmm.

Is the current “president” this stupid, complaining about how some immigrants don’t love America when our own government literally employed the shooting suspect?

The treatment of Afghans under Trump, whether his issue was about the general treatment of Afghans or it was personal - related to himself or a family member. This guy was a US ally/asset in Afghanistan. He was vetted by the Biden administration to come in to begin with, then should have been vetted again by Trump to be granted asylum. He was here for 4 years with no issues. He definitely seems to have had an issue with the Trump administration.

why the governor from West Virginia jumped the "gun" on such disinformation.

Before apprehension of the suspect, the blaming of the left and Democrats jumped 100%, and still continuing.

The suspect had four rounds in his handgun initially, multiple sources familiar with the investigation told CBS News. The first victim — a female Guard member — was struck immediately and collapsed where she stood. She sustained at least two gunshot wounds during the ambush, the sources said.

Then, the suspect took her weapon and used it to continue shooting, striking the second Guard member, according to multiple sources. A third Guard member, who was not injured, ultimately returned fire, ending the attack.

let alone having a loaded weapon.

Being issued our weapons was standard for field problems and off post guard duty. I had a .45 that I wore across my chest. I’d go a few days sometimes and have a mini panic attack and I’d slap my chest, feel it, and exhale. The guys with M16’s didn’t have that problem.

Even if it's unrelated........people who know more about the immigration system than me have suggested the massive reallocation of resources to deporting people whose only crime is being in this country illegally might have consequences.

Unless the administration can prove otherwise, I'd go with that assessment.

I'd also like to see a more thoughtful allocation of resources.

...for ANY bad thing that happens...EVER.

The shooter could have been revealed as Barron or Don the Lesser and the MAGAverse would be gathering torches and pitchforks and headed to Delaware to find the real perpetrator of the crime.

The mind that is soothed by conspiracy theories never has to live in a world of responsibility for anything--there is always a list of other people and things to blame for whatever makes it uncomfortable. And when constant aggrievement is added to the mix you have a mind ensconced in a metaphorical turtle shell to protect it from the harm that would come from taking onboard any self-reflection.

The best we can do is point out the hypocrisy and hope that everyone without the MAGA brain worm sees it--because a crowd that will show up to the Capital building and beat police officers to get in so they can hang their own vice president and blame it on the FBI and "Antifa" sure aren't going to believe for a second that one of their favorite targets for hate would ever get mad enough to retaliate against them.

about "Biden not getting them all out".

All kinds of amnesia about that period when 45 signed an "agreement" with the Taliban to remove U.S. troops and LEAVE by May 1, 2021 - Taliban threatens to attack U.S. troops as Trump withdrawal date passes

45 ASSUMED he would be re-elected and would TACO the whole thing, and that didn't happen so he left a fucking mess behind.

Biden's folks had to negotiate to extend that date to later in order to get as many troops and informants as they could, evacuated (and including many of their families).

ALL of that was SHRUB'S WAR.
