NEW: VoteVets Responds To News of Likely Trump Purge of Generals

"Unless somehow stopped or talked out of this plan, it will be remembered as the first step in remaking the military from an apolitical force loyal to the Constitution into a MAGA Military, pledging fealty to Donald Trump."

...of incompetent and corrupt commanders looting from military contracts and trying to please Putin and lying about their "successes." We do not want to follow their example. The leader of the country needs to hear the truth. .

They are so corrupt that they fail to report their soldiers' deaths to pocket their pay. More soldiers dying means more rubles in their pocket. In my day, there would have been a lot of fragging of these types of commanders.

Ant the system of loyalty Trump is attempting to set up is ripe for grifting and corruption.

Erdogan has done the same thing. In my opinion that the alleged coup against him was staged so he he had an excuse to do an even deeper purge of the military.

Rewrite of the oath the military takes? I would think that might bring legal challenges. even a private that refuses to go out and shoot civilians is only following his constitutional oath

Nobody stopped the soldiers from killing the students, nobody questioned it. There was some outrage - but I don’t recall a lot of changes being made because of it.

He has the courts right up the SCOTUS, so there is no "rule of law" to restrain him. He has the legislative branch, so they won't stop him. He is already purging civil service. But sure, Elizabeth Warren, keep telling us how he's breaking the law by not signing the ethics agreement. Like he'd honor it even if he did sign it? Clutch those pearls a little tighter and you'll choke yourself.

16. For those that do not know what DEFCON..........means

DEFCON 5
DEFCON 5 is “peacetime normal,” the default state of readiness for the United States military.

DEFCON 5 represents “a normal readiness posture which can be sustained indefinitely and which represents an optimum balance between the requirements of readiness and the routine training and equipping of forces for their primary mission,” according to a Joint Chiefs of Staff description of this level when the DEFCON system was first introduced.

The DEFCON 5 exercise term is “Fade Out.”

DEFCON 4
DEFCON 4 describes the everyday operating procedures for fighting units.

At DEFCON 4, the U.S. military complex ramps up intelligence gathering and shores up security.

DEFCON 4 represents “a readiness posture requiring increased intelligence watch and a continuing analysis of the political/military situation in the area of tension,” according to the original Joint Chiefs of Staff memo.

The DEFCON 4 exercise term is “Double Take.”

Most forces are usually at DEFCON 4 or 5.

DEFCON 3
Two steps from war, DEFCON 3 is generally seen as a standby level of alert, and it is the highest level of alert during peacetime.

DEFCON 3 represents “a readiness posture that requires certain portions of the assigned forces to assume an increased readiness posture above that of normal readiness,” according to the Joint Chiefs memo.

The DEFCON 3 exercise term is “Round House.”

At less-tense points during the Cuban Missile Crisis, various parts of the U.S. military were at DEFCON 3.

Over a decade later, in 1973, President Richard Nixon put the U.S. military on DEFCON 3 during the Yom Kippur War, as Moscow was reportedly preparing to launch an attack in the Middle East.

“DEFCON 3 did not put the military on a war footing,” according to an Associated Press article. “It primarily meant leaves were canceled, men were ordered to return to their units and preparations were made to move them out if necessary.”

DEFCON 2
DEFCON 2, one step from nuclear war, is implemented when an enemy attack is expected. Troops are poised for combat at this time.

DEFCON 2 represents “a readiness posture requiring a further increase in military force readiness which is less than maximum readiness; certain military deployments and selected civil actions may be necessary in consonance with the command’s mission,” according to the Joint Chiefs memo.

During this stage, the U.S. will have “subs at sea and the bombers waiting on the runways,” as described by Roger Molander, a nuclear protest leader, in a 1984 column.

Parts of the U.S. military were at DEFCON 2 during the Cuban Missile Crisis of 1962, the closest the world ever came to nuclear war.

The DEFCON 2 exercise term is “Fast Pace.”

DEFCON 1
The most urgent alert, DEFCON 1, represents the highest level of readiness for nuclear war.

DEFCON 1 would be reserved for when an attack is perceived as imminent or already under way – when the nation’s forces are engaged in full-on war mode.

DEFCON 1 represents “a maximum readiness posture requiring the highest state of preparedness to execute war plans,” the Joint Chiefs memo says.

The United States has never been at DEFCON 1 – at least not to the public’s knowledge – since the system began.

The DEFCON 1 exercise term is “Cocked Pistol.”

Is the DEFCON Level Public?
For security reasons, the U.S. military never publicly releases the current DEFCON level. In February 2022, a senior official with the U.S. Department of Defense confirmed that the federal government will not publicly reveal the current DEFCON level of the U.S. military.

As of January 2023, the current DEFCON level is estimated to be at 3 due to the Russian conflict, according to OSINT (Open Source Intelligence) on the website DefconLevel.com.

So what do you think now ................I was on a military base when the Cuban Missile Crisis was going on and it reaching DEFCON 2...........and just think this asshole isn't even in the oval office yet and he wants to purge the three and four stars...........and to all of you fuckers that voted for this guy, who is the enemy from within now ...........

That would allow his administration to go after and shut down any organizations (including the media orgs) that he deems to be not worthy and you know they will just do what he wants.

He had also wanted the military to shoot protestors but one of the generals told him he couldn’t. He hasn’t even gotten into office yet and he has put some very scary people in charge, Including the new border czar who is laughing at the blue state governors who “think they’re going to keep him (and his org) from going into their states and doing whatever he wants.

He states that General Milley should be charged with treason and executed. I only hope that Congress or the Supreme Court or the military can stop him before he gets into office. Everyone needs to start watching the news- basically MSNBC might be the only ones reporting all of this. Oh - and some Republican was saying MSNBC should be shut down.

21. Officers can only be purged by the President during time of War
Tue Nov 12, 2024, 10:30 PM

Other than that, they're either removed from command for lack of confidence (but not purged) or they're discharged under the UCMJ by either courts martial or vote of Congress.

His "Warrior Board" can't really do shit. Joint Chiefs, maybe can remove a general or Admiral from a command, but they can't be "fired" and removed from service. And there's billets that need to be filled by qualified officers, otherwise, the Military slowly grinds to a halt.
This ain't WWII Germany with a limited number of senior officers from "Good Families" and a social caste system that guaranteed pretty much all officers were raised from an isolated childhood to be officers.
This is the USA, where officers come from all walks of life through several different methods, even through the enlisted ranks, and non-commissioned officers are trained to command units if they have to.
A "Warrior board" suggests that a very subjective and narrow criteria will be used that would not meet the actual needs of a successful military infrastructure. I also wonder how it would affect non-combatant units that are necessary to support all those "warriors" out in the field.

The general officers vow allegiance to the Constitution, not a dipshit loyal to Putin.

That they floated such an idea is grounds for We the People to hold on to power after January 20.
