Trump confirms plans to use military for mass deportations

President-elect Trump confirmed Monday that he is planning to declare a national emergency and use the U.S. military to carry out mass deportations.

Why it matters: Trump made his promise to deport millions of undocumented immigrants one of the cornerstones of his 2024 campaign, and his team has already begun strategizing how to carry its plan out.

A Truth Social post early Monday is the first time the president-elect has confirmed how his administration will execute the controversial plan.

Driving the news: Tom Fitton, the president of the conservative group Judicial Watch, posted on Truth Social earlier this month that Trump was "prepared to declare a national emergency and will use military assets to reverse the Biden invasion through a mass deportation program."

Trump reposted Fitton's comment Monday with the caption, "TRUE!!"

The big picture: There are an estimated 11 million undocumented immigrants living in the U.S. Trump's mass deportations are expected to impact roughly 20 million families across the country.

Immigration advocates and lawyers are preparing to counter the plan in court.

The president-elect's team is aiming to craft executive orders that can withstand legal challenges to avoid a similar defeat that befell Trump's Muslim ban in his first term, Politico reported.

And I think back to Biden’s attempts to mitigate and control the flow of illegal immigrants into the country. He was stymied at every turn. The courts said no, and that was the end of it.

WRT Trump, Will all the courts capitulate? Or, If they tell him no, will tRump ignore the rulings and order the military to take actions against the courts and any applicable articles of the Constitution?

Either he will use the military for mass deportations or he will be stopped in court. If he's stopped in court he will use that to tell his cult members that it's not his fault, blame it all on the "corrupt" Dems and the courts. His cult will rally behind him and start a bunch of shit which could likely put immigrants in danger if the cult tries to take matters into their own hands. Or his mass deportations will take place and we will all pay the price in so many horrible ways. No matter what, Dump will come out on top in the eyes of his cult and everybody else loses.

18. This can't be good for us.

Keeping in mind that tRump is a narcissistic, jerkoid asshole, it's extremely hard to imagine that he gives one damn about illegal immigrants. He also doesn't care to keep promises to the base that he no longer needs.

But, this can produce a "national emergency," and martial law. There is no true emergency. The target victims blended into the country and were working. Those baddies that came over either were swept up or will be swept up in the normal course of things. We used to be a nation of laws.

There will be no true emergency except the one made up by tRump et al. tRump needs this to impose his dictatorial will on us ALL, not just so-called illegal immigrants. How can we protect anybody, like our own families and neighbors, if we can be arrested under martial law? We're getting purged, people. We can at least call him out for this. Any military person who refuses service will probably be removed, too. And, we need them on our side.
