Brendan Carr wrote the Project 2025 chapter on the FCC.
By John Amato November 18, 2024
Donald Trump who continually claimed he had no contact whatsoever with Project 2025, immediately tapped Brendan Carr, wrote the chapter on the FCC for Project 2025, to head the FCC.
Lying liars, all of them. Brendan Carr seems to believe "DEI" is worse then cancer.

Before November's election, Carr told Maria Bartiromo he wants to punish NBC over a SNL skit.
BARTIROMO: What should be the, you know, the ramification here?
CARR: Yeah, we need to keep every single remedy on the table.

These two just don't and do not see the First Amendment..........they can get on some cable show and be protected by the First Amendment.........but when some other entity does it well..............not so much............

(22,015 posts)What he really wants to do is funnel 800 million to Starlink.
He also wants to enshrine disinformation on the Internet as free speech. I think that ship has sailed already.

(2,649 posts)That's why 45 picked him. Probably didn't even know the guy but when he said pull nbc license because of the skit, 45 suddenly liked him.

(120,776 posts)They create the programming that TV and radio stations, which do have FCC-issued broadcast licenses, can choose to broadcast. Licenses are issued to allocate frequencies used by the radio/TV spectrum. The guy who wants to head up the FCC should know that, and that the FCC can't revoke a license the NBC television network doesn't have in the first place. Fox doesn't have a license either, but since it's cable the FCC doesn't regulate it either except with respect to some technical aspects of cable.

(1,324 posts)What a fucking moron. Since he obviously has no understanding of who or what needs a broadcasting license, he is totally unqualified to be on the FCC in the first place.

NBC knows what his threat was. But they also know there was nothing but hot air behind it.
He's a dickwad who claims to be a defender of the first amendment but is more than willing to use the government to attack and silence private speech.
I've been a communications attorney for over four decades and previously worked at the FCC for a period of time. There have been some bad chairs -- Kevin McCarthy and Ajit Pai to name two. Carr is way worse. The only thing that I have trouble putting my head around is that Joe Biden nominated him for a new term in 2023.
