Luckily last month I downloaded my expected SSI payout info.
Went to log in today,
Can no longer directly log in
Option to go through and ID.me route, issue is, when creating a user, the system won't send out a text message require to complete the log in process.
Other options are to log in via validation to upload front/back of Drivers License. GUESS WHAT!!!! Won't read the front side of my DL>
Looks like team ELOON is purposely fucking with log in.

(7,138 posts)This was how it worked for me a few days ago also.
I tried, initially, to log in via LOGIN . GOV and all that gives me is my personal info... like email and such. But if I start at the SSA website and try logging in there (with LOGIN.GOV), it takes me to all my info.
I never tried the ID.me route.

(2,112 posts)I got an email today that I think is strange. (It says it is from no-reply@ssa.gov.) It supposedly is providing a link to my SS statement. I am not clicking on the hyperlink.
I just logged in the way I set up when I first went on SS. And I was able to log in, but - it then said I had to create either a login.gov or ID.me acct. I exited, until I can find out more about this.
I looked up what login.gov is. I am not pleased about the possibility it might also ask me for a photo ID. That does not seem right. I am calling my Senator on Monday to find out more.
I saw someone on DU last night say something about getting a strange text, that was representing itself as being from SS.

(8,318 posts)I signed up for login.gov last August. It was no hassle then. Recently I have changed my email address, and changing it there was also no hassle.
I don't remember being asked for a photo ID then, but I do keep jpgs of my drivers license, front and back , on a portable hard drive at all times, along with other important documents, so they might have asked and I might have just uploaded.
But it does sound like it's changing. Glad I did it then.

(12,324 posts)also they have a few options for security and I choose the most secure but its chancey if you lose it, I choose 10 codes to sign in one at a time along with password, can't open without the manual codes, they say they send new ones after ten and I am at 8 now and hoping it still works.

(5,369 posts)After three different tries over the past several months I still cant get it to verify my identity. Ugh.
On the first try it took nearly an hour for it to try and process/accept the photos of my drivers license. I gave up. During the next two attempts, that part was a lot faster but it still cant (wont) verify me. I just wanted to look at my IRS transcripts. I think the DMV here is using it, too, if I remember correctly (otherwise I wouldnt have waited on hold forever last summer for an answer to a simple question that could have been easily answered by logging into my profile
)

a photo id for the verification process. I had an issue with login.gov because I kept getting the message "we couldn't match you to this number" for my phone number, when it was the same number they just sent on the verification screen as the one they have on file for my number! Made no sense at all.
But the ID.me verification process was more user friendly and I got it set up in just a few minutes.
Concerning the photo of the id, sometimes you have to retake the photo due to the lighting conditions or perhaps a blurry image.
Good luck.

(5,038 posts)The best is to do it in indirect natural light without a flash. I recently had to create an ID.me acct for my hubby for the VA, and we ran into the same problem. It took 5 or 6 tries, and it was taking it in bright indirect light without the flash that finally worked.

(2,112 posts)I was told one does not need to provide a photo ID. I am about to post an OP about this.

(26,885 posts)Signed in with that, was told I should switch to Login.gov. Created a Login.gov account and, as soon as it was verified, my MySSA account was automatically transferred over to that account. No hassle, no need for photo ID, nothing.

(21,594 posts)I just got in and downloaded everything.
Luckily, I already had an acct. with them and did not have to give them any more information other than a second yahoo.com email address.
Stinking 'effers aren't they?
& recommend.

(23,867 posts)we will be seeing hundreds of DUer posting here about their problems with it and not just the few we do see.
In my city of 50,000 I have a neighbor who thought she needed to check in person at our SSA office so she went there a couple of days ago and low and behold, she got right in and was told she didn't need to report in person unless she had changes to report.
I think I will wait until the sky is actually falling before I run around bleating, "The sky is falling! The sky is falling!"

(3,794 posts)but I'm not having any issues with my SS. Comes on time and I get what I expect to get.
I have not heard from others who are having issues.

(652 posts)I have been trying to log in with a Login.gov account and have been getting an error message. I can not get access to my account. There is a Social Security office here in my town. I will go to see them if there is a problem with my check. Troubling times. Thanks for this thread.

(1,443 posts)Everything worked like usual. A little trouble after my log on. But reloading it worked fine. All my data and messages fine right now.

(27,644 posts)The first half of this month dozens of DUers every day were asking if people had gotten their SS checks/deposits yet. As if there wouldn't be an enormous hue and cry if they stopped. So, March is just fine.
I suppose there's a chance nothing will arrive next month. But I seriously doubt that's what will happen.
Plus, I find that SS does an excellent job of keeping me informed about any changes to my payment.

(5,563 posts)Supposedly, will get a code via snail mail in about 2-3 WEEKS. THEN, got email saying code in 3-5 DAYS
And I have a security key thumbprint on file with US.gov because my health insurance is with Fed Employees group, so needed to access that. Used to work fine with SS too. Now.... Elon's Dweeb Team has rendered it near impossible to get into SS account.
Am worried about neighbor who said he got on to SSA fast & easy with a phone # he texted me. I need to find out where he got that number, as I did a reverse lookup and it is a privately owned phone. I fear a lot of elders are getting texts with numbers to call that are frauds who now have SS#s and info.
Elon is a FRAUD, and his little band of vandals are enabling a lot more fraud now.
They took a well run site and blew it to hell

What if all Medicaid recipients did the same?

(16,780 posts)The move to the more secure logins has been going on for at least a year as I did the process a while ago.
Im not sure if its interference at this point because the 2 step verification can be a pain to setup at times. But I wouldnt be shocked either.

(1,418 posts)Had to create a Log In account, and now the sneaky bastards have my cell phone. Before, they sent a code to my email. I hate giving out my cell phone number, because everybody sells it, and I don't trust them to not be tracking me.
Gotta love how our crooked government works.
