and reports that her retirement community is now up to at least 50 homes owned by Canadians that are up for sale. A few weeks ago she was surprised that there were about 5 already on the market. She tells me that in a normal year 5-10 get sold usually because one of the owners has died or because they have health problems that have made it difficult to travel.
Some of the people she's talked to are planning to get new homes in Mexico or Costa Rica.

(835 posts)It sucks that they will have to take a loss on their properties, but the writing is definitely on the wall.
There won't be many Europeans taking their holidays in the US this year. Instead of all these American corporations sucking up to Trump, they should be demanding he stop all this insanity. It is hard to work up much sympathy for the airlines, Disney and everyone else being hammered by these policies when they wouldn't raise a finger when we had the best opportunity to nip it in the bud.

(13,328 posts)None have put their homes up for sale. (The umbrella HOA has ~ 17,000 homes. I dont know how many are Canadian owned.)
