As I've said many times here at DU, I stopped watching Bill Maher years ago. Because I can't stand him.

But on another site I came across his frantic efforts to distance himself from trump and trump's followers, on his show last week.

Extraordinarily gratifying. Worth a look, even for you fellow Maher-haters. Just the sort of encouragement that we Democrats are in such sore need of, at the moment.

1. Bill Maher is the last person I need encouragement from. He is a sexist, misogynistic, anti-vax jackass.

Don't forget ignorant. He has no idea what he's talking about in regards to vaccines or the middle east.

3. So, what happened with his beloved new "friend," Kid Rock and his plans to go with him to visit Trump @ WH?

And I share your two-year (or more) disdain for Maher. He'd throw Dems a bone once or twice in a long litany of pro-Trump BS in monologues or his end bit. I wasn't buying it.

But his long "joking" misogyny was what first made me turn away.

4. I watched Maher promote DOGE to the max - he's a total ass!

Guess his was the next show but both of us had left the room and when we came back, Maher was on. We watched for about 5 min. because he was talking about DOGE coming to CA and pushing for that to happen. Then our gag reflexes started engaging and we quickly turned off the drivel.

7. He knows how to manipulate.

He stirs up all sides from time to time to create controversy just for controversy sake. It's disingenuous and hypocritical. It leave me not having any idea what he really thinks and that may be his MO and his only point.

Somewhat funny 20 years ago, in an "asking hayseeds where they're from" in a 100 seat, two-drink minimum comedy club, way. He suffers from delusions of adequacy today.

I don't find ANYTHING about fascism "funny".

11. He's out of touch

He’s incredibly rich, even for a celebrity. He’s so far removed from interacting with regular people that he has no clue what they are like. He smokes weed, so that makes him think he gets normal people, because he probably gets high with people who aren’t as wealthy as he is.

He lost me with his never ending vitriol for trans people. He’s flat out said hateful and awful things, not just his guests. He hates trans people and thinks they’re tricking children into sex changes.

12. I find Maher as an arrogant (doesn't) "know it all"...

The few times I've seen him (perhaps 10?), I could easily counter any of the positions he took. Each time he was "corrected", he simply got louder and even more arrogant.
