Story by Kevin Scott 1h
Knewz.com is reporting that MSNBC host Symone Sanders-Townsend recently expressed her outrage with Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer. Sanders-Townsend stated, Im going to change my registration to independent. Schumer recently supported a Republican-crafted government funding bill that passed 54-46, leading to heavy criticism from various party factions.
Sanders-Townsend said, Theres actually little that the senate minority leader can say and the ten Democrats that voted with the Republicans can say to appease somebody like me.
Sanders-Townsend added, They blew it. She then noted, The Democratic Tea Party was born the same day Chuck Schumer took to that podium to read that very well crafted statement that told us he folded like a paper napkin.
Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) condemned the choice between a government shutdown and support of the bill. Numerous Democrats have criticized Schumer for wasting an opportunity to use the shutdown threat for better leverage.

(29,456 posts)I don't think she should leave over Schumer especially when most Democrats in the House & Senate combined voted against it. I would recommend to stay and try to make it better from within.

(33,673 posts)I recall that she made this threat a week ago. Hey, Simone! Put up or shut up, already. Your threats are beyond tiresome. At some point you're not going to get the attention that you are seeking.

I hope, if you love her, that youre not too terribly offended by my opinion.
to read a lot of negative comments about her on DU. I dont watch msnbc anymore, so cant say anything about her, except from what I have read about her on DU. Dont think I would watch her show anymore.

(604 posts)I thought that CR needed 60, or is this referring to a different 'bill'?

(2,152 posts)The cloture was where the Democrats could have blocked the CR from coming to the floor. Once it did come to the floor a simple majority could pass it.

(13,364 posts)I wonder what a Dem Tea Party would look like. Would it be 5% of our unreliable, fair weather friend voting blocs? Would it only be obnoxious, self-promoting leaders and voices? It just doesn't strike me as viable, but it might just be a good thing. We would have a foil on the "left" we could use to get more moderates, ideally people who vote with us hell or high water and are low maintenance.

First she was with Sanders, then when the wind started to blow the other direction she went with Biden, now because she doesn't like what the minority leader did she jumps the boat entirely.
Goodbye Simone. Don't let the door hit you on the way out.
The Democratic party needs people who work within the party despite disagreements.

The judicial is currently the only branch of government functioning enough to provide a check on the executive. Without the courts, the destruction by President Musk and Figurehead Trump would accelerate even more and we would have NO recourse. The fired employees would have stayed fired. Renditions to torture sites would have continued. The shutdown would continue indefinitely, providing them more cover.
There was no good outcome. Schumer likely chose the least bad option. Instead of attacking him, we should direct our fire to the real domestic enemies.
