Big egos even get jazzed reading their names in relation to bad news. What was it some criminal in the past said? "No such thing as bad press?" True for some charismatic criminals, but not for would-be tin cap wannabe dictators.

I don't think Musk has changed as much as he has been revealed. I think all of his philanthropic, altruistic, or high-minded talk was always garbage. It was a spiel designed to quell criticism, part of his con. The abject cruelty he shows toward others isn't something you develop overnight. He was always a monster and now he feels free to let it loose.
