Whispering in a Hurricane

I try to be an optimistic person. But it is difficult to do in these times.

There seems to be a political vacuum. The hucksters, criminals, fraudsters, and liars seem to be in control of our government. I get the feeling that I am resigned to making decisions on blind faith alone.

I do not want to be a naysayer. I want to believe that we will get thru this calamitous time. It is only temporary and the people will eventually come to their senses and save our government.

But then, I wonder how long it will take for our government to collapse? Put an Earl Schieb paint job on the historical incompetence and make people believe we are headed toward an exciting and bright future.

My gut tells me we are being robbed. It is reverse Robin Hood and there will be unforeseen consequences before this time next year. We will not know what we have lost until it is too late.

Those are my fears. Could someone make a rational and hopeful argument that will dispel all these negative and unproductive thoughts?

For every action there is - or should be - an equal and opposite reaction. In this case the reaction is an intermittent and ineffectual whisper

Smoldering fires, thumbscrews, broken systems, despair. No civil law, no criminal law, no courts, just plunder and thievery. Not the state of nature that spawned the Enlightenment. If you can hope for better it would make a great novel amidst the dystopian crop.

and being aware of them. Better than pulling on rose colored glasses and pretending problems don't exist.

others may see different problems. And there is a difference between being aware of problems and being paranoid.
