Tucker Carlson's father Dick is dead. He was a transphobic television figure with no journalistic standards who involuntarily outed people. And obviously he helped turn his son into an utter irredeemable scumbag www.nytimes.com/2025/03/30/b...

...where Dick Carlson is an influential but not central figure, is The Lady and the Dale. It's on HBO, in four episodes.

In 1970, entrepreneur Elizabeth Carmichael rose to fame with her creation: "The Dale", a fuel efficient three-wheeled car. As the car rose to prominence, it thrust Carmichael into media scrutiny about the car's technology and her own past.

The main story follows an eccentric inventor, a woman of trans experience, trying to produce a three-wheeled car. In the series, you really come to see how deep the obsession of the Carlson family has been with trans women in particular. That motivation seems to predate most other "political" stances that Tucker has based his career on. As I recall the series, Tucker's father used Elizabeth Carmichael's story to take his career into the national stage.

But Keith sometimes needs to slow down. I assume his father was BOTH transphobic and homophobic, but given his mention that he "outed" people, I would guess he means he might be referencing that those who were "outed" were done so "involuntarily," (rather than the father having done so "involuntarily." ) I know, picky, but KO is normally such a cautious speaker and writer, and it caught my attention.

Regardless, it would seem that (F)ucker is a "chip off the old block" and got his ugly hatred from his father directly.

he'll feel liberated enough to come out
and expose a side we haven't seen before.
He no longer needs Dick to be ok with him.
I wonder if he was able to express how he felt about Dick before Dick was no longer in his life.
Did Carlson's wife embrace Dick or were they strangers? It's lucky that Tucker is Carlson's first name because that would mean his father's name would have been.....
Kind of ironic for a transphobic/homophobic person. Sort of poetic justice.

My comments are in no way meant to bother anybody but Tucker. I often have a juvenile sense of humor but I also have man size empathy.
