By funding the government, Florida Republicans voted to scrap their own projects.Last year, U.S. Rep. Anna Paulina Luna fought for Congress to send millions of dollars back home to Pinellas County.
Fresh off two devastating hurricanes, the city of St. Petersburg was set to get $9 million for a project to help keep residents from being inundated by floodwater. Clearwater Beach was slated for nearly $1.8 million in improvements to keep storm water at bay.
Earmarked community projects like these allow congressional elected officials to directly help their communities. The Tampa Bay regions five U.S. representatives secured at least $105.5 million in combined special projects this fiscal year. They got federal money for projects ranging from cancer research to local police department improvements to fixing local bridges and sewers.
Then, earlier this month, congressional Republicans voted to cancel funding for every project.

Can't have any of that wasteful government spending used to repair hurricane damage and improve government services. What do you think you pay taxes for, anyway?

Her constituents might feel differently.
But, how would she know? I doubt you'll see her hosting a town hall, except in absentia.
Note: I don't think absentia is a town in Florida, just a state of mind when a Representative is too afraid of her constituents to meet with them.

And Anna Lunatic has a particularly bad case of it.

(7,602 posts)5. She got on the Trump buss (intential mis-spelling), and decided she liked it. Power never tasted so good.
But, once you sell your soul to Satan, it's hard to get it back.

Why should people pay their tax, if their services are getting axed?

But I'm sure that didn't have anything to do with it
