Yes I would vote for him for president TommieMommy Tuesday #5
Is his speech intended to consume time to block something or is it just a long speech? LonePirate Tuesday #6
Sen. Booker wouldn't be my first choice for 2028, but he's absolutely on the list for consideration. InAbLuEsTaTe Tuesday #7

He won an upset victory for a seat on the Municipal Council of Newark in 1998, staging a 10-day hunger strike and briefly living in a tent to draw attention to urban development issues in the city. He ran for mayor in 2002 but lost to incumbent Sharpe James. He ran again in 2006 and defeated Deputy Mayor Ronald Rice. Booker's first term saw the doubling of affordable housing under development and the reduction of the city budget deficit from $180 million to $73 million. He was reelected in 2010. He was elected to the U.S. Senate in a 2013 special election and reelected in 2014 and in 2020.

Basically, what is the purpose of his speech? Is he trying to run out the clock and prevent a vote on something or is he simply speaking to be speaking?

He jumped on the bandwagon to ruin Al Franken’s Senate career, and, as far as I know, has never apologized.

But he remains a forceful speaker, and he has a wicked sense of humor. Back in January, in DC, a bunch of us were in a locale celebrating Rubén Gallego’s Senate swearing in. My brother and I were chatting with Mark Kelly when Corey Booker, in blue jeans, came to get Mark to an improvised podium for a few short improvised speeches. Booker apologized for the interruption, saying he was just Mark’s bodyguard. I said I wasn’t aware that the New Jersey mafia had enforcers named Corey. He laughed and said something like “busted.” He’s very quick, and should not be underestimated.
