I suggested to some friends here in the Philippines

After the mid-terms in the Philippines, the subject landed on corruption. The people here complain about it a lot when discussions turn to politics.

I suggested it was easy to eliminate corruption in the Philippines. Just do what we did in the United States. Legalize it

Nigeria, and many other countries. They would say that corruption was bad in their countries and I would say that it is worse in the US. In most other countries corruption is small bites at every level of society. In the US, 99.9% of the corruption is at the top. It is invisible to most of the population. In the financial crisis in 2007-8 we glimpsed for a moment the corruption in the banking system. Many people understand a bit about the corruption in the "health care" system. Now, the Republicans are taking corruption to a new level which will likely suffocate democracy. And most of the US either cheers on the pillage or stands idly by in apathetic stupor.
