A 7.6 million increase in the number of uninsured Americans would represent a massive jump, equivalent to about 30%

The Bulwark:

A 7.6 million increase in the number of uninsured Americans would represent a massive jump, equivalent to about 30 percent of the total uninsured population today. And even that data point doesn’t fully capture the impact of what Republicans are proposing.

He was on CNN and MSNBC.

He did say he would support reasonable work requirements.

But, the requirements I’ve seen so far have many exceptions. If that is what it takes to preserve more Medicaid services, I’d accept it with a way to monitor how the exceptions are applied.

Obviously, covering everyone universally is best, but that ain’t gonna happen in my lifetime.

so much more sense if there was subsidized daycare (that pays for itself with increased tax revenue over time as they found in Quebec).

would definitely help encourage work if that's the intent.

I think work requirements are not needed. But, there are lots of folks who feel otherwise, unfortunately.

Just got through responding to rubes on our community Nextdoor who keep saying, "It's not our responsibility to pay for others." Will probably have my response removed and given a 7 day suspension.

I mean, all they want is their votes. OK, I'm not sure that's a thing anymore either. Guess we'll see if/when elections happen and in what form. Anyway, if they do need their votes ever again, they can do that with grievance, resentment, fear and hate; all stoked by the various media they have controlled since Reaganite deregulation. Three words: Critical Race Theory. They don't have to give them anything. I'm shocked, SHOCKED at the temerity of The Bulwark. Bill Kristol & Co. used to be such respectable and loyal neocon authoritarians.

A work requirement for Medicaid would mandate daycare assistance – a single parent with a three year old and five year old eligible for Medicaid can’t work or go to school absent daycare.
