There will be no midterm elections. They don't need voters. They already told us. It will be beautiful.

No more of that vexing stuff. Just stay in your house while we destroy your world. It will be fine.

"If it is to be done it's best it were done quickly."

They won't wait for 2028. They already invaded California and New York.

We'll get over it.

But then I go back to thinking it's just a dream and I could wake up any time. That's the strength of hope.

Both seem pathetic and illusory, I wish I could be more optimistic. We have to keep in the streets anyway.

I also believe no midterms will be done in 2026. Trump will make up some national security excuse to cancel them when he realizes the GOP might lose badly. If that happened then people will protest causing Trump to declare martial law thus bringing in the national guard and regular military to put it down. He already is laying the groundwork in LA and other Blue Cities for this to happen. The Supreme is letting him do this.

PS. Believe this is what he wanted on January 6th but the left stayed home and foiled his plans. Remember he is on record as saying the guard will be deployed to protect my people. Since the left stayed home is the reason he did not deploy the guard then.

At some point I hope we get past this claim given it keeps not coming true.

P.S. states run the elections, which were held during every war, including the Civil War, and after 9/11.

How would Trump or any other Republicans stop state elections?

I am not saying that is going to happen or that we should dwell on the possibility of that happening. It is just that the actions of Trump/Thiel/Miller/Project1025ers indicate a desire to set up an authoritarian/fascist regime. The actions/inactions of Congress and the SCOTUS indicate that they are willing to let an authoritarian/fascist government, aided by a compliant military, to emerge.

Theoretically, if Trump were to issue an order that 2026 midterm elections are invalid and that the composition of Congress shall maintain in its status quo until 2028, who is going to stop him from making it so?

As Musk stated, "This is the best hand of cards we will ever have." I do not think it is unreasonable to speculate on how far Trump and his minions will try to push their authoritarian/Fascist agenda However, I do not think it is healthy for us to be fixated on, or obsessed by, the threat.

Some red states may try to skirt elections. But I think it would be very difficult.

The problem with trying to turn the US into an authoritarian government is our massive land size and population. The military just isn't big enough. And there are those in the military that won't go along with a military coup.

Right now Republicans are passing some very misguided bills that will hurt people. I think there is a door opening for "let's stick it to the rich" candidates to get a lot of votes.

Republicans are going to continue to use immigration and "foreign" threats as a distraction to economic issues in 2026. It will take some really disciplined candidates to not let Republicans frame the issues.

If I were going to run, I would talk about the 1% and corporations the way Trump talks about immigrants. We need to be aggressive and simple in our messaging.
