What could we be doing about it that we arent doing, seems like we arent doing a fucking thing. And no I dont have the fucking answer I just know that something drastic better fucking happen fucking soon
Tomorrow nights protest, good trouble, is great, but protesting will solve absolutely nothing, this is not about politics this is about fascists and they dont care about protesters.
And if he doesn eliminate vaccines completely, he will and HAS ALREADY eliminated the people that know how to prepare the proper vaccines

Maybe just lucky, but I've not had covid yet.

(638 posts)It will take a lot longer than a few months for there to be few enough people vaccinated to cause millions to die. Unless there is a new virus that we have no immunity to. Covid took 2 years to kill a million Americans.
Those who are vaccinated against things aren't suddenly going to not be vaccinated. Sure with the law requiring insurance companies to cover certain vaccines, some might charge or not cover some vaccines, but insurance companies use actuarial tables and the data is clear that vaccines save money by preventing disease.
There's never been a virus that killed a million Americans in a season. Even with covid, before there were vaccines and when there were spikes, people changed their behavior. Even in red states this held true although to a lesser extent. Hyperbole isn't a particularly useful thing.

(1,785 posts)masking will be extra important.
Masking is something we should all be doing during cold/flu season anyway. I noticed during COVID that I stopped catching colds because I was always masked up when we went out in public. We still mask up when we go to the doctor's office or anywhere we will be inside in a crowded space. This will be extra important during flu season and especially if we can't get vaccines this year.

Itll be even worse if there is a new pandemic.

(19,320 posts)Of people who are just as nervous and scared of preventable disease as you are.
Why not try to find people/doctors/organisations who are vaccine supporters and see what they plan to do. Maybe the US could build a citizens coalition to support those who want vaccines.
You have a nutter conspiracist as health secretary; he is not entitled to deny any person a vaccine if they want it.
