John Avlon @JohnAvlon: For @CBS to cancel @colbertlateshow is complete malpractice.

The brand is strong, storied and irreplaceable. And no host is funnier and more thoughtful - soulful - than
@StephenAtHome.That’s why he is loved by a loyal audience and they will follow him to whatever he does next.

It is encouraging to see pushback from a spectrum of media people.

But it’s a shitty way to treat a 20-30 year tenured employee. Remember the Colbert Report and Strangers with Candy were all Comedy Central / Viacom / Paramount shows.

Once one of the most trusted networks on television. Walter Cronkite was where many Americans turned for their evening news. Dan Rather admired for standing up to the crook, Nixon.

60 Minutes was the leading news show for many, many years.

Now they are paying out bribes to get some sort of political payback? They are firing people that might joke about the present President.

My, how the mighty have fallen!

that one day he finally realized that he was no longer working for CBS News but was working for Viacom News. The old CBS of Edward R. Murrow and Walter Cronkite doesn't exist anymore, and hasn't for decades now.

Dan Rather is a stand-up guy, thank goodness.
