Judge Shopping Needs To Be Reined In

The location of the trial should be in the district where the crime was committed.

Krasnov judge shopped for Eileen Cannon in his documents case.

Also, is Mar-a-Lago now Krasnov's residence? There was a dispute with the city whether it was a club or a residence, or do they let Krasnov determine what it is to suit his purposes?

Where was the WSJ crime committed? In Miami? Miami where the odds were good that Krasnov would get a favorable judge?

There are numerous legal DUers here to better explain why there is so much leverage where a case can be filed.

If the defendant feels the district is prejudiced against him, let him/her file for a change of venue.

That would have almost guaranteed that he would have gotten Aileen Cannon as a judge, since she is the only judge in that division.

Mar-a-Lago is actually located in the West Palm Beach division. The problem that I found out after the records case is that the West Palm Division (which has 4 or 5 judges) also brings in the Fort Pierce division into its rotation, meaning that Cannon can still get brought in to hear a case (as she did for the records case).

The entire Southern District of Florida has over two dozen judges, appointed by Democrats and Republicans (including Trump) alike. So it would still be the luck of the draw, so to speak. As it would in just about any district court systems in the country.
