Just increased our donation to PBS

For the last 15 years we have donated $12/month to our PBS station -- Richmond VA.

We are in our 80's, fixed income. In May we sold the house we built in 2007 in rural VA, moved into small apartment in Northern VA. The rural county where we lived since 2007 had two traffic lights, so, the change in traffic is, to say the least, daunting -- but we don't get out much because most of what we want is in walking distance.

Made some money on the house, put it into CDs.

We had three older cars and a pickup which we sold for cash. We donated the cash we made on selling the cars and truck to our local PBS station and have upped our monthly donation.

We are very, very lucky people. I'm retired military, wife is retired teacher. Our military TricareForLife with prescription benefit is a life-saver -- she is insulin-dependent diabetic and, until Trump trashes TFL, we are okay. We hold our breath every month until we see our SS annuity credited to our bank. By moving into the apartment, we found we have more cash -- rent and incidentals are less than the total for mortgage, upkeep, gas to drive 4-hour round-trip to doctors, insurance, and the like. We figured instead of stashing oure extra only to leave it to our kids in a few years, why not help out NOW, so, PBS, ACLU, and Planned Parenthood will share in our good fortune.

We watch and listen to a lot of PBS and, by God, we will do whatever we can to save it.

Republicans will continue to trash everything that is good. Democrats can't do a damn thing about it and, when we are back in power, it could be too late for some programs.

Until then, we two old people will do what we can while telling every MAGAt we know to GFY.

PBS is SO worth it. Recently been watching more WHUT (Howard University Television) which gets into heavy duty stuff.

Wondering if there is a way to do a global donation to them that would include Masterpiece?

Thanks and congrats! You are good people and great role models!

I've given forever, like 30 years, recently increased a bit. If we the people can take it back, they can't hurt them anymore, right? Can they take away the airwave?
Our world would suck without PBS and public media. Make him go away. Take his bevy of fools with him. Go back underground and forget to come back in 80 years.

Why do the RWgers spend so much time hating on us?

It's not that we are bad people, in fact I think we value life more sincerely than they do. Love is something central to most of us.

So, I finally realized they just don't like our lifestyle, the way we have fun, the things we value.

Their obsession with us is so intense, so brittle and hard. What makes people hate people who are a bit different from them?

Just turn around and walk off. Live and let live. The world is rich and there's enough for everyone. Find something you like to do and get involved in it.
