Interesting observations in this article below I think.
Apparently, AOC is now the enemy -Daily Kos
During the 2024 presidential campaign, these activists bizarrely fixated on Vice President Kamala Harrishardly the puppet master of U.S. foreign policy on Gazaand heckled her relentlessly, even at her own partys convention. They even cheered when Donald Trump won the election, with peak absurdity displayed in (a) viral celebratory tweet
And after dubbing former President Joe Biden Genocide Joe, they seem to have misplaced their creativity when it comes to Trump, who now has the power to reshape U.S. policy. Instead, he has openly embraced the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians. Among other things, Trump moved the U.S. embassy to Jerusalem, defunded UNRWA, and greenlit Israels annexation plans. And who could forget the video he posted of his Gaza fantasyreplete with a golden Trump idol at his Trump-branded Gaza casino?
Yet none of these pro-Palestine activists protest Trump. No chants, no stupid nicknames, no disruption. Nothing.Rep.
I don't get it either. Or maybe it's that someone has figured Democrats and Progressives are safer TARGETS?
go figure.

Exactly. Why not protest Trump. He has the power to end the war.
And he won't do it.

(72,738 posts)The US CIA and Israeli Mossad had no inkling there was going to be an attack.
HAMAS does not have the funds or wherewithal to fool the two greatest intelligence services in
the world.
The timing of the attack was designed to interfere with the election and throw the
election to Trump.
I warned people about this from day one.
But to no avail.
The people fell for it hook, line and sinker.

Putin's goal has always been to destabilize the West, weaken the EU and NATO, and regain the former Soviet territories.
And in Donald Trump he found the perfect wrecking ball for accomplishing just that.

(1,790 posts)odd that you had all these protest allegedly supporting Palestine and attacking Biden/Dems prior to the election, but after the Orange Felon King's victory this past November they essentially disappeared? This despite his unwavering, unconditional support for this fellow felon, Bibi, and the eradication of Gaza and the Palestinian people.

(5,972 posts)eradication of Palestine is precisely what Bibi and Trump have planned. And I think they've made no secret about it.
But no, let's threaten and attack AOC.

(1,142 posts)Democrats are supposed to be on their side, so protests might work in theory. Meanwhile, they know they have no chance of moving any Republican. Having dealt with some of these folks, that's what I've gathered.

(14,432 posts)Protesting is a valid way to start moving a political stance, however, the protests that work have clear plans, alternatives, and a realistic outcome focus behind it instead of a "do something/anything".
As long as Hamas is a proxy of Russia and Iran to destabilize the region, Palestinians are as hobbled as Afghani were under the Taliban.
As long as the Ultra-Orthodox hold political sway in Israel, most Israelis (including Atheist, Arab and Christian Israelis) do not have an equal voice in their government.
Palestine is a complex, tragic situation that can really only be solved when the hardliners and foreign influencers leave. But even then, there's been so much disrespect, hatred and
blood shed, I honestly don't know if people involved can "get over it" and respect each other's right to live alongside each other.

(2,673 posts)those who watch Bill Maher are not liberals/Democrats? Or is that a different group of purity police?
So many to keep track of!

(5,276 posts)Those who watch Bill Maher are sycophantic apologists for an anti-vax, bigoted, sexist, GOP talking point parroting, rich, white, male TV celebrity with a huge ego who kissed Trumps ring.

(2,673 posts)especially if financial in nature. Is this really the best you can come up with? Because I doubt this applies to the vast majority who watch his show.
Cambridge English Dictionary - someone who praises powerful or rich people in a way that is not sincere, usually in order to get some advantage from them.
Oxford English Dictionary - Nowadays, sycophant is used almost exclusively to mean a person who tries to get ahead through obsequious agreement or flattery.

B.See
(5,972 posts)that's too simplistic a take on the intricacies of today's politics. We've already witnessed occasions when Democrats were attacked, discredited, or not supported, just for having a point of view not entirely in lockstep with another's.
