The ugliness this man has brought to the office

And to American politics will remain for a very long time.

It's reached a point where I have to limit myself on reading about it, for my own mental health.

This was entirely preventable, in my opinion, but the need to appear "non partisan" out of fear of Republican accusations seems to have taken a higher priority than the sufferings of the vulnerable and the voiceless.

Was it worth it?

Did they really think he and his gang of mutants wouldn't go this far, that a shameless supreme court would never make him king of America?

I remember even most progressive pundits saying they didn't believe the court would ever give him immunity for crimes, it was absurd on its face.

Yeah, well the joke was on us.

So I'm going to do what I can, and wish those who could have would have.

There is two parts and there’s newer information on his podcast from the same people.

Yes, the piece of shit lied every day for four years that the election was rigged when it wasn’t, and this time it WAS!

But even though true, and as angry as it makes me, as long as he is where he is, it makes little difference.

Unless something is done about it, which is pretty much a foregone conclusion.

I was never one of those "it can't happen here" types but I honestly didn't think I'd see it in my lifetime & the lightening speed has been staggering. We've been on this path since since the New Deal, really. The people who believe this country is theirs, don't want to share. The Nixon fiasco opened the door to presidential immunity with that whole sitting prez can't be indicted bullshit. Which, IIRC, is just a memo & not law. But here we are.

I'm going to spend some time investigating this site: https://indivisible.org

I'd heard about it awhile back & then forgot about it. We have to remember, there are more of us than there are of them.

What is encouraging is seeing the courage of the many who are actively resisting.

What I found most disturbing was the video recorded by a US citizen in Florida detained by ICE, when they didn't know they were being recorded.

One of them actually said, "They’re starting to resist more now,” to which an officer replies: “We’re going to end up shooting some of them.”

This isn't hearsay, you can hear it quite clearly in the video.

It's easy to see what's coming not very far down the road, and it turns my stomach.

Remember the young man at the Charlie Kirk event? This was long before Harris was running, IIRC. But Kirk was carrying on about the "stolen" election of 2020 & one young man asked, "When can we use the guns?" He went on & it was clear he meant against the people who he believed had stolen the election. Who else could that be but democrats?

$30,000 bounty bonuses. Thats almost twice what a minimum wage worker makes. The administrators have a warped sense of appropriate pay: excessive for their goons, but food-bank-thrift-shop wages for entry unlisted military personnel (unless it's gotten better).

everywhere possible. That’s exactly what they (the ICE goons) said for all to hear. I watched and heard it. Everyone needs to see it and let it sink in. We are already in a police state.

But we also have too many Americans, even when they mean well are just too naive.
As a black person, I've seen it too many times when it comes to race matters, even well meaning white folks who think, nope, there cannot be racism in what you are talking about. "Black folks are always using the race card".
IMO, those people are not racists, just too naive. Too naive to think that there are so many others in America that want to harm others.

The same kind of naivete that thought abortion would never be banned.
Underestimating how many people actually want this.
How many people would give up democracy to have this kind of chaos.

During his first round of executive orders, when he issued the EO about going after student protestors that were here on a student visa, I posted a thread that he would be going after permanent residents and this was not about students protesting the war in GAZA. That was way back in Jan/early Feb.
Not calling out anyone, but there were posters that disagreed. Saying it was just about GAZA protests. Again, well meaning but naive.
Now we know he is going after permanent residents (Green card holders as well as naturalized citizens)
If Maxwell gets a pardon - Don't be surprised - They go from release the files to release the predator and there will be many that will defend it.
Think about the worse thing that you think they may do and multiply it by 10. Don't ever think there is a line that will not be crossed.
I cringe when I hear people say, " This is not who we are". Yes it is.
We don't need to go into explaining that "we are not all like this"
But stop making it seem that there are only a rogue few. Enough of them exist.

When I was still working... before COVID...

I knew some pretty atypical Trumpers.

By the nature of my work, I interacted with Ph.D's and M.D.'s and Engineers all day...

Many were foreign born naturalized citizens... and they all gave a nearly identical reply.

"The system is broken, Trump will break it and what arises will be better"

I said isn't that like chemotherapy? Partially killing the patient to save it? Aren't there less radical methods?

" conservative republican" mold. Immigrants and non immigrants.

When Obamacare was passed, I was working in a hospital, it directly benefitted. Admissions increased. We never had an open bed.
Actually became a problem because we were always understaffed. But the patients kept coming, even from far away.

A hot topic at the time, that often got too hot for a workplace conversation, was whether healthcare was a right or privilege.
Altruist arguments aside, It was bonkers to watch people who were financially benefitting from Obamacare, argue against it.

Trump was just the first to run on it... and actively pursue it.

GOP'ers of past kept all that stuff under the radar.

Oh, no, they wouldn't dare.

Settled law and precedent and all that. Besides, they would need something to fundraise and campaign on.

is his ability to do whatever he wants, without any law or person to stop him. There is absolutely no accountability for anything he does. 330 million people in this country with 1 man making all the calls. And this one man is a fake game show host, a felon, rapist, racist, pathological liar, and so on and so forth. We all know he's guilty. And somehow he put together a bunch of corrupt people to help him get what he wants? How can any of this be happening in a democracy?

My ex, an avid democrat, is now on anxiety drugs just to get by. She no longer watches the news. Her life will never be the same. All of this because of Trump. It's just not right. And I'm sure there are many others in the same position. It's sad what he has done to Americans. Millions to purposely be removed from healthcare? Really? And he could care less. No empathy for anyone or anything. He actually thinks he's saving America as he destroys it. And all the millions of idiots that think he is right.

To make matters 1000 times worse, the GOP and the SC are in his back pocket. Many are too weak to speak up, as they suck up government benefits and salaries.

I do not see any of this shit turning out to be a good thing.
