Kamala Harris Slams Protester at Book Tour

Kamala Harris Slams Protester at Book Tour

Laura Esposito

Former Vice President Kamala Harris had the last word for protesters who tried to disrupt her book tour event in Chicago on Saturday.

During an event promoting her memoir 107 Days, a small group of protesters shouted at the former presidential candidate over her handling of Israel’s war in Gaza, social media videos show.

Then Harris joined the back and forth: “Are you the same person who was telling people not to vote?” she asked demonstrators as audience members cheered.

The former vice president was seemingly referring to the uncommitted movement, which saw thousands of typically reliable Democratic voters cast their ballots “uncommitted” or abstain altogether in protest of the party’s backing of Israel.

Billionaires made sure that the internet was primed and armed to go full anti-Biden Harris the day after Hamas attacked.

The PR kit came complete with colorful emojis, cute slogans, and paid trollers. The word went out through DSA, Sunshine Coalition, gaming sites, woo woo antivax astrology groups, and other targets.

The goal was to get Trump back in the WH and it worked. Progressives fell for it like MAGATs watching Fox News.

The "spontaneous" protests which were ginned up by Tiktokkers supposedly in support of Gaza, may become a valued tool of the reich-wing. Now that the proof-of-concept trial has been such a success, the Murdochs, Ellison, and other authoritarian oiligarchs are buying Tiktok.

Trump had said that he wanted to ban Tiktok. I think that our techbro overlords convinced him that it would be foolish to get rid of a tool which worked so well, that the best strategy was to take control of the tool.

The retort by Kamala Harris may be witty. But doesn't win the argument in the minds of the protestors.

Many here think the Gaza War started in October 2023.

Those of non-Israeli in the Middle East think the "war" (physical and political) was about 75-100 + years ago.

The US has repeatedly blocked recognition of the Palestine has belonging to the people of what has been called Palestine.

The US has been outvoted in the UN -- but the US uses its Security vote.

Therefore, an acknowledgement of this discrimination has not been forthcoming from the US in the mainstream.

Therefore, an acknowledgment of the discrimination would be the first of billions of dollars of steps to repair the homes of the genocide.

Therefore, an acknowledgement of genocide is what the protestors and myself would be looking for.

Additional observations:

Among those who are Muslim and I talked to (sometimes via translating person), at least one was Palestinian.

I sensed they knew they were between a rock and a hard place.

A Muslim that I spoke to recently spoke of the general nature of the world going downhill and specifically mentioned Gaza (without prompting from me of any politics or fighting. More about economics.)

An Israeli that I have know for over 10 years told me -- "we are hated throughout the world."

I note that Israel has blocked aid trucks from Egypt from entering Gaza in a timely manner. Food as a weapon.

as many as 60,000 dead in Gaza in the past 24 months. More than 20x killed in the World Trade Center attack of 2001. More than the number of Americans killed in the entire Vietnam War of the 1960's and 70's.

blood on their hands as hamas, and the obvious retaliation hamas knew would happen under netanyahu.

They are responsible for the 65000+ Palestinian deaths, along with the Israeli deaths.

What did they think would happen when hamas massacred 1200+ people at a rock festival on October 7?

There is absolutely no cure for stupidity.

This isn't the first time these groups have played that game. Not surprisingly these prosters sense of history is willfully ignorant to suit their own bias.

Hamas came about from the virulent antisemite the Mufti of Jerusalem and Muslim Brotherhood, the group that assassinated Sadat. They cannot tolerate any peace with Israel. That was one of the excuses used by some for the October 7, because of the potential agreement with some of the Arab neighbors. A similar excuse used by the assassin of Rabin because he was against the Oslo agreement.

There are some sick, twisted individuals out there who cannot tolerate peace agreements. In their sick, twisted minds, it is all or nothing.

There were multiple opportunities for a two-state solution through the years, and each time it became close, the same actors came in to play their part.

When Bill Clinton left office, he left the foundation for a two-state solution to the next administration based on the Oslo Accords, and of course what happened, George W. bush won, with no thanks to the third party imbeciles, with their "no difference between the two parties." All you have to look at is the Supreme Court appointment to know the difference.

Similar thing happened in 2016, where in every critical swing state Hillary lost by less than 1% while Jill Stein received 1% of the vote in those critical swing states.

And then 2024 happened, and the same actors were there again, to help propel republicans to victory. This time putting our very Democracy at risk.

The only thing these unaffiliated groups have done is help republicans win.

You would hope the Democratic party would finally learn, these are not a reliable voting block. This is nothing to do with Sanders or the Progressive caucus, They caucus with the DEMOCRATS. These are the Jill Stein's, Ralph Nader's, and other third party spoilers, whose egos and arrogance has contributed to where we are today.

Why aren’t they right now? The last I heard Harris is a private citizen. She’s not in power now, and as a VP her power was limited anyways,

Protesting her is about as pointless as it gets. These protestors are not serious. I greatly sympathize with what’s happening to the people of Gaza, but I also understand our own history with Israel and the reasons behind it.

do I agree with it? No, but these protestors basically fucked over the country by either not supporting Harris, or worse yet supporting Trump.

I also see that since Trump came into office, the bombardement got worse, yet these protestors more or less faded away. Why no pithy slogans about genocide Trump? I know it doesn’t flow or rhyme but it’s telling.

It could also be that many of these protestors are basically cowards.

They knew that Biden was wasn’t going to have ICE throw them in a concentration camp.

That they are still going after Harris is something else. Even for those of us disgusted by what Israel is done, this movement will not find an ally in me, because it has no strategy, attacks easy targets, and ultimately falls back on classic good ‘ole anti semetism. I wouldn’t be surprised if a big concern for these protestors was that Harris’ husband is Jewish. I’m sure that got many of them freaking out.

Maybe they figured there were enough anti semites among Trump’s crowd they could find common cause, who knows, maybe our in house defenders can explain idiot logic.

Since the 2000 election where Nader gave us Bush. Of course, we see it again with Jill Stein.

I always wondered what drives people to such counterproductive actions?

I have come to the conclusion that for such people spite is the end goal. They’re doing this because they share a similar nihilistic strain as incels, groypers, and assorted MAGAts. Sure, their ideology isn’t the same on the face of it, but in reality they still want to cripple social progress, even if it’s incremental. Ultimately they act like spoiled children. If they don’t get it their way, right away they would rather watch it all burn down.

Hamas asserts control in Gaza and targets alleged collaborators as ceasefire takes hold

Source: CNN

Hamas’ internal security forces were pictured on the streets of Gaza City on Saturday, and there have been multiple reports of clashes between the group and clans opposing it in recent days.

“A number of collaborators and informants were apprehended and arrested in Gaza City, after it was proven that they were involved in spying for the enemy,” as well as “participating in the assassination of several resistance members,” the Palestinian Home Front, a Telegram channel affiliated with Hamas, said Sunday.

A video distributed by Hamas-affiliated Telegram channels on Saturday showed an alleged collaborator being beaten in an unknown location.

I’ll never forget how that felt - that I’d lived during a time when a woman could be elected President. And earn that Office. And sit behind that desk. I was so sure she’d win - actually that BOTH of them were gonna win, and get women into the history books for the ultimate achievement in America.

And still… it’s GOTTA be a man? With all the female talent and achievement and qualifications out there, we STILL can’t get a woman into the Oval Office (unless she’s stopped by to visit her husband in there)?

I think Kamala, should she have won would have gotten rid of the albatross by now. Biden seemed to be moving in that direction.
