Re-hearing from last term on gutting the Voting Rights Act coming up this week

Why does it seem that the non-decision last term was groundwork for the shock? So this decision won't be known until June 2026?

with the decision there wouldn't be time to redraw the districts for the '26 elections? Just guessing!
