Just Quit.

The Democratic Party needs to stop protecting our society from Republicans.

Full stop.

Do nothing. Abstain from every vote. Let Republicans have 100% of their wishlist with zero resistance.

We are fighting a losing battle. Many people are just too fucking stupid to understand. They think it's not that big a deal because Democrats are largely protecting our society from the worst of things but it's a fruitless and thankless job.

Let Republicans break healthcare. Let Republicans outlaw LGBTQ and mixed race marriages. Let Republicans permanently take away SNAP and WIC benefits.
Let Republicans break Medicare and Medicaid.
Let Republicans shove no-whites out of society.

If that is what unions want. If that is what people want. So be it. Let it all burn. Who gives a fuck at this point?
The only way people are going to learn the stove is hot is by burning their hand.

The important thing is to make the Republicons face the music for the results of their gutless rubberstamping of the orange agenda.

But a total quit would backfire because the most obvious conclusion would be that Democrats don't fight for people.

Oppose, resist, push progressive agendas forward, so that there is a clear contrast. Do it calmly but determinedly, do it with positivity, optimism, and a clear sense of caring. Make the point that it is the Republicons who have quit. After all, they are afraid to go to work for a month.

They don't seem to give a damn about anything.

Maybe they need to experience the consequences of their indifference and bad choices.

The ones who don't see total surrender as viable? The ones still willing to fight in any way they can, even if it's only being kind, compassionate and caring? We are just supposed to give up?
Not all of us fight back in grand, out there ways. Even small acts can be acts of fighting back.

I have given it serious consideration. It's what Chuck Schumer opined when he kneecapped the majority of Democrats in voting for the March CR. Chuck told Chris Hayes that Krasnov will burn it all down and then we win the next elections.

The problem is dictators don't give a shit about polls, don't care about stinking elections, Krasnov has the military in our streets, has the military killing whoever he tells them to kill.

What's the difference in a dictatorship who gets blamed for the killing of unwashed Americans? Unwashed Magats are going to get killed just like Democrats.

The Democrats' strategy hasn't changed, throw money at the next election and GOTV. Krasnov may have the federal government in charge of the state elections? Krasnov will invoke the Insurrection Act which will make it legal to do whatever he wants.

I donate to Indivisible and the ACLU, they are fighting back now.

I will not let my child's identity and choice of who to love be re-criminalized.

I am not going to let my non-white family and friends have their Constitutional rights revoked.

I am not going to watch my community suffer from a total breakdown in healthcare services.

Go peddle nihilism elsewhere. We have a country to save.

The federal employees union is the one making that ask. I'm just "ok".

Kind of like people saying "no one is getting measles anymore. Vaccines are pointless"

But doctors say "that's because of vaccines"

People say "liberals just want everyone to get autism"

My reply is, understandably, "ok, no more vaccines. Sounds good 👍"

Same thing here. I can't argue with people that are this willfully ignorant. I'm tired of trying.

What is the alternative at this point?

over subsidies to insurance companies.

we are insulating people from the true cost of health insurance that only further insulates people from the true cost of healthcare

But it doesn't work in real life. These facists need their ass kicked and they all need to be sent to prison.

I think if the Fox News MAGA GQP doesn't want to do their jobs, then we need to consider those positions abandoned and fill them with people who will. And fuck Fox News, they need to be flushed from the government.

But the largest federal employees union has asked the Democrats to do just what I have said: to just give into the Republicans and a "clean" CR.
They are absolutely smart enough to know exactly what that means and don't care.

Their letter asking Dems to do just that is dangerous and reckless. But here we are. It puts Democrats in a very awkward situation because allows Republicans to have a brand new talking point to beat up Democrats.

This is a "touch the stove" moment. You've been the responsible parent preventing the kids from feeling the pain... and we just might have to let this be a teachable moment. You have to let them touch the stove and feel the heat for themselves, and actually understand why we've been trying to prevent them from touching the stove.

However, remember that Republicans need Democratic votes, not the other way around. Republicans control the government. It's their responsibility to keep it open. We won't give our votes away for free. Don't willingly negotiate with them. Let them come to us because they need us... or make them nuke filibuster.

Letting Trump, MAGA have their way (like Hitler had HIS, I'd imagine) at a great cost to MANY, or continue to fight them every step of the way.

If "resistances are built on hope," then I think I'd choose the latter.
