that will and should change their reputation. I would imagine the emails are unlikely to prove that many were involved in abusing children, backing the ring or providing coverup. Only the very clueless would write emails like that.

Like Summers' case, you may see sleaziness reading their own emails. Their own comments should impact how you see them. It is entirely fair that Harvard and other organizations drop Summers as the man they show is worse than his already problematic image.

Oddly, it is possible that Epstein was always on his best behavior around Clinton. This would make sense as before 2017, Clinton was his biggest name to drop and being seen as connected to powerful people was one root of Epstein's power. Since I joined DU in 2005, I have rarely defended Bill Clinton.

It will be important to look carefully at each person and avoid guilt by association if the connection does not involve participating or protecting Epstein and Maxwell.

Before, I'm not as sure. As to rides, I know that Senators yearly had to disclose any rides on jets. One concern was that even if totally legit, there was concern about buying access.

When he offered the Clinton Foundation the use of his jet for the trip to Africa, it could be seen as a donation to the Foundation from a wealthy man, connected to many powerful people, who had given lots of money to universities and campaigns.

Bill Richardson, former New Mexico Governor, was named as one of the men Virginia Giuffre was trafficked to. But that has been known for at least a decade and Richardson died quite a few years ago. Former Senator George Mitchell was apparently named by Giuffre as well. And it's been proven Stacy Plaskett, delegate from the Virgin Islands was texting with Epstein during a committee hearing (of course, she was a Republican at one point in time).

I'm sure there are Democratic donors as well - Epstein himself donated some money to Democrats.

The difference is there are ZERO Democrats looking to protect ANYONE named in the files, whether they be a Republican or a Democrat.

I would guess the majority of the perpetrators are people unknown to the general public at large, but they're probably ALL millionaires or billionaires. And we know, the richest of the rich are, on average, more likely to support Republicans than Democrats. So the majority of the perpetrators more than likely were Republicans.

said the files would reveal that no Democrats were involved in Epstein's illegal activities. We already know for a fact that isn't true. This isn't a partisan political thing. Epstein gladly associated with people from both parties. His only requirement to be in his orbit was to be filthy stinking rich. And those who acted illegally were into pedophilia, money laundering or both - political persuasion was irrelevant.

Probably the ones who are not running again, are not currently in office, or the powers that be in the GOP will use it to get rid of the ones they think are dragging the party down.

I just hope Lindsay Graham is in there. He's had his nose so far up Trump's ass that you just know Trump has something on him.

That tRump is probably very much involved in this scandal. I don’t watch CNN very much, but I have tuned in to see this latest development, and I’m so sick of panel discussions about “who the president might be protecting”, and “are they trying to prevent more victims from being created by releasing these files”, but this is the first time I’ve seen someone (a guest, of course) pointing a finger in the most obvious direction. Of course, I’m sure this segment was quickly followed by an apologist explaining that no one has accused tRump of any wrongdoing, and how Maxwell said he was always a perfect gentleman…🙄

is how complex and octopus-armed the whole business was. There was the pedophilia trafficking (boys and girls, I'll bet). There was money laundering coming in and going out. It also sounds like he ran some sort of private air business where the mighty and those with money could fly on his jets, quickly getting where they needed to go. And gods help me, it also sounds like the evil basta$d was involved with some charities.

Sussing this all out is going to be nigh on impossible. It's also evident that "guilt by association" is probably a hell of a lot more nuanced than we've considered.

Clinton, for example, used the jet for flights on behalf of the Clinton Foundation. Okay... that's sounds legit, tho it may take some validation and verification.

But what got me really thinking about this was the news that Noam Chomsky also had some sort of association. After reading Chomsky all these years, I find it really hard to think of him as a pedophile, and more in line with using the jet as a privilege.

I'm sure we're going to find many more names with instances like this. But SO much emphasis has been put on the Epstein files only in relation to the pedophilia and sex trafficking (and of course, that IS the most heart wrenching and top priority where jail time is concerned) but with all that emphasis I'm afraid we hear a name and immediately file it under "sex trafficking"... I know we'll be shocked at some of the names that no doubt come up with a clear link to the Island or to other sex trafficking sites, but I'm afraid of the Epstein Files becoming this generation's McCarthy campaign... where *everybody* is guilty of sexual impropriety by association. And please... *don't* think I'm excusing or trying to normalize any of that... I'm NOT! I'm appalled at what was allowed to happen, with full knowledge of government officials, it looks like. Probably with some our own tax dollars thrown in, one way or another. And I hope every one of these women can find the justice they need to give them back a small sliver of peace. I'm just beginning to try to wrap my mind around how many pies this man had his fingers in... This one's going to take one hell of a flow chart or something to map out!

1. Redact Trump's name out of all of the files. The only problem? The lawyers for the victims know what's in the files as do over 1,000 FBI Agents who are witnesses (and subject to subpoenas).

2. "We can't comment on the files as there is an ongoing investigation." Which is why they launched the phony investigations into Dems only associated with Epstein. Like this admin. has ever been stopped by past practice, precedent, or law (the East Wing demolition comes to mind).

Everything that this Admin. released has to be fact checked and vetted thoroughly. These are criminal, fascist, lawless individuals, reporting to an amoral, sociopathic, "president."
