Activist organization plans vigil for woman fatally shot by ICE agent
A Minnesota activist organization is planning an emergency vigil for the woman fatally shot by an ICE agent earlier today.
The vigil is scheduled for today at 5 p.m. local time, the Minnesota Immigrant Rights Action Committee announced on Facebook.
We witnessed an atrocious attack on our community today. Community members were taken from us and an observer was shot dead. ICE OUT OF MINNESOTA NOW, the organization wrote.

(57,400 posts)A fellow union member suggested not bringing cell phones, and if you must bring them, turn off face recognition and location tracking. The ReadyNow app, obviously only accessible if you do bring your phone, enables you to contact friends and family if you've been detained.
The vigil is at E. 34th and Portland Ave S., a bit East of 35W.

(11,405 posts)ICE and the cops are the ones that should be warning each other, NOT US.
WE have a Constitutional Right to free assembly, ICE DOES NOT.

(57,400 posts)I never disputed that. I said you should be careful and gave some suggestions a colleague passed on. There is no earthly reason to be upset about that. If I didn't want people to go, I wouldn't have posted the location of the vigil.

(11,405 posts)Of course you're right, and we should always take care not to put any of us in unnecessary danger, and pre-planning is always good advice.
Aggravated I suppose, with the idea that it's not safe FOR US, to stand in front of our own government without 'caution', but i understand that wasn't what you were getting at.

I agree with need for safety precautions if one goes. They shouldn't be necessary, yet they are.
