(15,037 posts)why would you insist that you have the 'real goods'?
I think I'm going to wait for other (and much more knowledgeable/reliable) sources. Is there a rush here ?
Wiz Imp
(9,016 posts)That is the murderer. He has nothing on his head. That is the guy ID'ed here. You can follow the guy during the entire video. He starts to the right of the vehicle, moves around the front to the front left corner where he fires his shots. As soon as he's done shooting, he walks towards the wrecked car and then back down the street where he gets in another car who drives off. You are WRONG. It is clearly obvious on the video.

(15,037 posts)'identity' is being questioned - at the same time it is being spread on social media.

(9,016 posts)and is the guy I said it was? It was 100% obvious from the videos that he was the guy. No matter how much you or anyone else try to argue otherwise.

The only thing I would add is that I think two shots were fired into the windshield, and the final shot was fired through the driver side window.
ON EDIT: I have now seen the image of the victim's wrecked vehicle. Only one bullet hole in the windshield appears in the image. I do not know how many rounds were fired or where they struck. But I am convinced that the law enforcement officer shown in the videos and discussed here in these threads is indeed the shooter and that the act was murder.
Ms. Toad
(38,311 posts)The officer is not visible in at least half of the video. He is visible right after the shooting, he disappears from view, the camera swings around (away from the direction he walked), then back to the woman's car in its ending location, then a man who appears to be the same man walks toward the camera (from the direction of the woman's car) when the close-up is captured.
I'm not making an assessment one way or the other as to whether he is the shooter - BUT - he is not visible "during the entire video."
Wiz Imp
(9,016 posts)Which is 100% true. He is the only ICE agent not wearing anything on his head.
Ms. Toad
(38,311 posts)He's not the only ICE agent on the scene, and he disappears from view for about half of the video.
How do you know it is not a different agent (who either wasn't visible before, or who was but took his hat off) that came walking back toward the camera?
Because you cannot track him through the half of the video in which he is not visible, you can't track him through the entire video. You can track him until he walks toward the woman's car. You can track someone who doesn't have a hat from the woman's car back toward the camera. Because of the gap, there is no way to be certain it is the same person in both the beginning and the ending of the video.

(9,016 posts)You're making such ridiculous arguments they are worthy of MAGA. Keep arguing if you like. You're wrong and only serve to make yourself look foolish. You're not smarter or better than other people here like you clearly believe yourself to be.
Ms. Toad
(38,311 posts)through the entire video.
You can track the shooter from the shooting, walking toward the victim's car. He is an ICE agent without a cap.
Then he completely disappears - for at least half of the video. You have no idea where he is, or even if he is still at the scene.
Near the end of the video, you can track an ICE agent walking from the victim's car toward the camera. That ICE agent did not have a cap.
There were dozens of ICE agents in the area (as can be seen by reviewing a number of videos). The early part of the video showed only a half-dozen of them. You have no way of knowing if there were other ICE agents on the scene who were not wearing caps - only that the handful which appeared at the beginning of the video were. Even if every ICE agent on the scene was initially wearing a hat, hats are trivial to remove. In addition, there were no close-ups of the shooter at the beginning of the video. They were all shot from a distance, with so little resolution that not much detail was available. So you have no way of knowing the shooter (in the beginning of the video) is the same agent shown in close-up at the end.
It may be the same video. But, with internet vigilantism alive and well, the consequences of mistakenly identifying the wrong person as the shooter could be disastrous. It is irresponsible to make statements asserting that you can track them through the entire video, when it is impossible to do so with any certainty.

We were being told (on these same pages) and at the same time, that some of the images being presented were AI generated. And - to be honest, I see no real utility in having a positive ID twenty minutes earlier than a reliable news source.

(5,217 posts)Sheesh, it's the guy. Why parse words?
Move on.
Ms. Toad
(38,311 posts)It may well be him. But it also may not be him. If it isn't, it won't be the first time I've suggested holding off on attacking someone based on an internet identification that later turned out to be wrong (too much later for the innocent people caught up in the wrath of the internet). It won't even be the first time on DU.
My point was that the person I responded to insisted that they could track him through the entire video. He is not even visible in half of the video, so there is no way anyone can track him through the entire video. The first part of the video is too distant to see much (the reason no one is citing that as identification). The end at least superficially resembles him (white male not wearing a cap in ICE gear). But because he vanishes for the video, there is no way to reliably connect the shooter (the first part of the video) with the person in the close-up.
