These dudes cannot be normal, feeling, compassionate human beings or they wouldn't be doing what it is that they are doing. There's some component within them that has made them gravitate to this work.

and some might NOT deserve it----
particularly federal agents who shot to death an unarmed woman!
In any case, we all are particularly outraged over this,
and some may thus make some ugly comments which they should not have made,
but we have little to no control
over what might happen to the son-of-a-bitch if he gets sent to prison.

(15,037 posts)Rape is a concrete evil. Should be perpetrated (nor advocated) against NO ONE. And the degree of sympathy arising from such - visa this victim verses that victim - has nothing whatsoever to do with it. It's just WRONG period!
Prison rape is a bigoted and tired trope - containing not a single shred of humor (despite the lowest of low brow sensitivities) ... And it needs to permanently retired. Unless we feel like accepting and perpetuating that bigotry here. It's about that simple.

(4,381 posts)but I never made any claim that my post was based upon
"ethics, morality, and justification" whatsoever---
nor do I ask for anyone else to attempt to defend it---
I was talking about "feelings" entirely,

Yes, I understand your 'position',
and by no means do I say that you are 'wrong'.

(22,222 posts)There are many acceptable, healthy ways to vent. Prison rape jokes (or any kind of "joke" involving any kind of sexual assault) are not acceptable or healthy.
Just my opinion? One might say so. One could say that about a lot of things, that they are just somebody's opinions. That something is an opinion does automatically make it right or wrong.
AZJonnie
(2,839 posts)There's also (not a small, imho) bit of underlying homophobia implied on top of it
I don't want anyone tortured in prison in any way, that includes long, punitive bouts in solitary confinement, which I think is absolutely torture.
ShazzieB
(22,222 posts)SA jokes are disgusting even without that, but the homophobic undertones implicit in a joke about prison rape really kick things up a few notches.
stopdiggin
(15,037 posts)forthwith. (and not make excuses, as in 'venting')
No - sh*tty advocacy and sh*tty behavior are just - sh*tty behavior. And playing the 'our side' or 'people upset' card doesn't provide cover for the transgression.
You don't actually countenance rape in any form or variety ? Then don't be offering up filthy suggestion and scenario! Put a sock in it!

(5,095 posts)Title 1, U.S. DOJ Policy on Use of Force:
"Firearms may not be discharged solely to disable moving vehicles. Specifically, firearms may not be discharged at a moving vehicle unless: (1) a person in the vehicle is threatening the officer or another person with deadly force by means other than the vehicle; or (2) the vehicle is operated in a manner that threatens to cause death or serious physical injury ... and no other objectively reasonable means of defense appear to exist, which includes moving out of the path of the vehicle."
Placing oneself in the path of a moving vehicle constitutes officer-created jeopardy and undermines any claim that deadly force was necessary. Standing or moving in front of a suspect's vehicle while the engine is running is an example of an officer creating their own danger. The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) use-of-force policy specifies that firearms should not be discharged at a moving vehicle unless there is a deadly threat that cannot be otherwise avoided, which includes moving out of the vehicle's path.

(2,313 posts)What are the Minneapolis police doing? Do they usually just let murderers run free? Have they identified this masked killer? Have they made s ingle effort to apprehend him?
WTF are they waiting for?
AZJonnie
(2,839 posts)Our congressional representatives can't even get into ICE holding facilities to check on conditions, you think they're going to let city cops into the facility to apprehend one of their own? And that's assuming any of police force that murdered George Floyd even cared to do so.
I can pretty well guarantee that nobody but people in DHS/ICE have known where this dude was since he left the scene.
However, I DO expect an formal arrest warrant in the coming days, to fail at that would be totally unacceptable.
Bluetus
(2,313 posts)an immediate broadcast to all of law enforcement of a masked gunman, armed and dangerous. You don't need a warrant to pursue and arrest a person when there is probably cause he committed a felony and is a danger to the community.
Why is this any different?
It is 24 hours later. No arrest. I don't even think the killer has been identified. Are the olive even trying to find hom?
AZJonnie
(2,839 posts)and the fact it was quickly known he was in the presence of other LEO's when he left the scene that makes it different.
If the dude had fled on foot away from the rest of his vicious LEO crew, then that might've resulted in an APB like you're suggesting
Bluetus
(2,313 posts)If any of us shot somebody in cold blood on the streets of Minneapolis, especially with such damning video evidence, there would have been 200 police immediately dispatched to try to apprehend us. You don't need a warrant when there is such obvious probable cause.
Not only did not a single person lift a finger to try to arrest this guy (despite their fake-concern, dramatic speeches), they didn't even make any effort to identify the masked gunman. Now, 1-1/2 days later, it was the Star Tribune (not the DoJ, not the cussing Mayor, not Gov Walz, and not the Minneapolis police) who have identified this thug.
https://www.startribune.com/ice-agent-who-fatally-shot-woman-in-minneapolis-is-identified/601560214?utm_source=gift
The politicians all operate under this "never question the police" bullshit that has been with us forever. It was the power of organized citizens who identified the murderer. And it will be up to the pressure from the people to force Walz and everybody else to do what they can't bear to do -- put somebody draped in authority on trial.
Step 1: Identify the perp CHECK
Step 2: Force MN officials to get an indictment for homicide or murder
Step 3: Put so much pressure on the dog-killer that she has to surrender for state prosecution the guy to save her own ass.
Step 4: Impeach her, and see if there are some state las SHE has violated and can be prosecuted for.

(3,364 posts)Reports were that the killer (or federal ICE agent, if he really was that) FLED THE SCENE in an unmarked car.
Police should be on the lookout for a Chevy Tahoe with MN plates, EVC-289. Some folks video-ed him strolling to his car, and driving off.

Figure out how the shooter was tracked to this guy (chain of evidence)
The various social media posts make it clear that passions are very hot, justly so, and so the desire for revenge escalates. That's when a real witch hunt often begins, if fingers point to the wrong person. Witches were hung or burned on trumped up charges. Mistakes were made. Tragic ones. I hope that is avoided here.
I am all for the arrest and full prosecution of any ICE agent who breaks a state law. Especially killing anyone.
John1956PA
(4,839 posts)I have taken some similar snips at that point in the video as well.
No, it can not be said for certain that the individual in the snip is the shooter. However, his appearance is consistent with a snip I took from the first part video which captured the shooting.
