“I had to cancel my World Cup plans,” wrote Ramy Abdu, a Palestinian academic and assistant professor of law and finance, in a social media post on X Friday. “Visiting the United States simply isn’t safe.”

“Would you have gone to watch the Olympics in Nazi Germany in 1936?” asked Pekka Kallioniemi, a Finnish social media analyst with a focus on propaganda and disinformation, in a social media post on X Friday. “If the answer is no, it’s time to cancel your US World Cup tickets.”

is THE most corrupt organization.....Second only to Trump and his entire CABAL of Republicans.

Everyone in the U.S. should not purchase tickets to ANY match here in the U.S. and definitely no one in any other country should buy tickets to matches scheduled in the U.S.

Perfect that Trump would hook up with FIFA............birds of a feather.......

when Colorado was nearly subjected to hosting the Winter Olympics back in the 70's........

Thankfully, we had a very intelligent, astute, and true visionary Governor at the time.......Dick Lamm. Did I mention that he was a true Dem ??????????

He saved our State, time and time again, while he was Governor. And then, he continued influencing the minds of people after he left office. He wrote a weekly commentary, published in the Rocky Mountain News, about many significant problems that we were facing currently, and/or that we, as a nation would be facing..........I re-read those articles a few years back, and if there was ever a Visionary, he was it.......Four Decades later, almost all of them came true.........

Dick Lamm, thank you for all your contributions, they weren't listening then, and they're not listening still.
May you RIP......

tourism and other businesses start feeling the financial impact, they'll attempt to get their reps to pay attention. Boycotting the World Cup sends a big message, especially with massive cancellations.

I can remember the times long ago when middle class Mexicans would drive to Laredo, then San Antonio for long weekends in the spring to go shopping, particularly for Easter. I'm guessing there is none of that these days.

Both organizations are so corrupt anyway, might as well give them a big dose of 'fuck you and your criminal business'! Cancel all events of the sort, we are in a civil war and must fight it with intellect, this is one mechanism we can all use easily.

Let these criminal enterprises fall on their faces.

the Russian invasion of Afghanistan. It would be fitting if the rest of the world boycotted both the Olympics and the World Cup here in the U.S. Planning for mass picketing and demonstrations at every event should start now. We need to show the rest of the world that we are not all monsters.

U.S. Pres. Jimmy Carter took the lead in the call for a boycott of the 1980 Olympics, and approximately 60 other countries joined the United States in staying away from Moscow. A number of Western countries did not observe the boycott, notably Great Britain, France, Italy, and Sweden.

Mixed feelings since it deprives the athletes of the rare opportunity when they may not even agree with their government's decisions.

I'm hoping Schlump will be dead by then. I know Vance would suck as potus, but I honestly find him less scary than the Orange Hellbeast. Among other things, Vance wouldn't be able to control all the Republicans in Congress the way the Orange One does. And 2028 is an election year!

Let's be real about this. If someone like Putin were to take over a country and host a world event, would the USA (in the past) be the lead to suggest the cancelation of the event? Did we do this in the 80s?
