HOWEVER... the overwhelming majority of the people... and this includes the world... are just like us. Just like you.
This administration has one magic spell. He uses fear and hate to embolden the weak and then stoke fear to project stronger than they are. They torture and kill to scare people into submission, they want you to believe that they can do this to you at any time they want. That's the only message they are sending.
But... it's not true. None of it is true. Trumpism is a sickness we have to endure for a time becuase congress is completely eat up with it. They are bed-ridden and useless at this point. But the Constitution isn't dead...
One day, we will vote people in who have the bravery to stand up and simply say no.
Don't forget... ALL this power he is ammassing can be used by OUR President as well, don't forget.
In 3 years... a little less... if we want to ensure that all of this horrible stuff never happens again. We can.
For now... we get to stand and watch. Document the crimes. Take down the names. One day, the laws they are breaking... we can enforce them.
There is no statute of limitation on murder. Let them go... step back and let them do the crimes they are blatantly committing.
They are protected by the Federal law and you can do nothing legally. If you do something illegally, well, you need to be prepared to go to jail. Read your MLK Jr. and your Gandhi, going to jail is part of it... you got to be prepared to fill them up if you're going non-violent protest. That's simply the only recipe for the sauce, force them to put everyone in jail by outlawing anything and you expose them for the cowards and weaklings they are. Simple as that.
But don't be complacent. Start documenting everything... start ensuring that when we finally get a decent human being in the office... and we will. Remember the equal and opposite reaction to Bush was Obama.
There will be an equal and opposite reaction to trump. I know... I'm talking to it right now.
The actions of the president are protected by a congress that will not do a thing to stand in his way. Anything he wants can be labeled a terrorist act... this post... probably puts me in the terrorist camp as well. Oh well... that's fine... I hope the next President will just pardon me for my crimes, whatever they may be.
These people are just making shit up as they go along. They are simply breaking everything they can get thier hands on and when caught, claiming it's a left wing conspiracy and a terrorist plot. This is not remotely new under the sun. Every shitty tin pot dictator in history has this exact same playbook.
Only difference is... we have our Constitution and millions and millions of people willing to die for it. MAGA has only thier hate and greed to drive them... they will fail eventually... they are such a disease even America won't be able to stomach what they are doing. Eventually... but only time will win this one.
Remember, even if you impeach trump, you just get vance. I don't remotely see how that's an improvement but even if that were possible... none of this will change. Not until the government changes... first in the mid term and then in the presidential election.
That's the stakes. That's how this battle is won. Don't burn shit down... don't hit our citizens... stand there and watch them... record their crimes... write down thier names and be prepared to testify. That's the America I've always wanted and for some crazy reason... I actually have hope that it's coming.
trump is a disease. A symptom of something rotten in our souls and we need to sometimes just sweat it out. We don't have a one shot cure for this... we don't... we didn't with Bush and we don't with this guy. We have what the states have done... armies of lawyers tying up every move. We have real law enforcement investigators actually doing thier jobs... though you'll never see it in the news. There's lots of stuff happening to fix this wrong... lots...
This shit will pass... it will. Bush and Cheney failed... I can't actually believe it. trump is no Bush and vance is no Cheney. All these guys have is smoke and a willingness to put others in harms way to make themselves look better.
I'm not saying sit down... or... no... do sit down... sit down protest are wonderful. I love them! Just don't resist them when they put you in jail. Accept it... that's the battle. If you are not strong enough to take it... don't stand up to fight. Offering the other cheek is not weakness.
Offering the other cheek is taking one hit. Getting back up if it knocked you down, and offering the other cheek.
What sort of plan is that? Right? Nuts!
But the payoff is... all that is happening is some person is beating a defenseless person. That's what happens and they are condemned by it. You allow them to commit the crime... repeatedly... this is how you fight back. Force them to show the world exactly what they are.
That man shot that woman in the face 3 times out of anger and rage. It's as clear as the sun in the sky. That was a crime that the president of the united states instantly pardoned. That's how it works... as crappy as it is... that's what makes the democracy we have so aggravating. But in one year, we can have a new Congress... if you want. In 3 years, a good person as President, if you want.
Right now, they are going to get away with it... they just are... they will be able to celebrate gunning down a mother of 3 as heroism and there's nothing we can do about it. They have our laws protecting everything they do... and they are OUR laws. Our Constitution but remember... the knife cuts both ways.
One day soon, we have the power to fix this. Get rid of those who support this sort of action and replace them with lawmakers who will hold whoever is accountable to account. IF I murder someone, I deserve to go to jail. Just because the Mayor is my buddy now doesn't mean the next Mayor is going to let me get away with it.
This is the hard part of democracy... the holding on during the dark days. But I'm not actually concerned as I was the last time this sort of thing happened. I have faith in you and the sleeping dragon that is all the people I have met in my life. One day, all the crimes you watch them do, you need to be able to witness and be ready to hold them accountable. That's how this is unwound. That's how you get your country back... and by the way... you never lost it, it just got hijacked for a moment. You can fix it, I've seen it happen before.

The MAGAts won't vote for a Democrat, they are lost forever. I live among them, they are ugly to the core, they are NOT decent people, they are not smart people and they are cheering all of this shit...they don't care if they lose everything as long as they perceive that someone else is losing more, because they are that hateful.
Up until recently, I believed that there were more decent people than not. Believing in fantasy (like "most people are good"
has been a losing proposition.
I will still work for our local Dem party, I will still vote and encourage others to do so, but I do it knowing that coming out of this is unlikely. Still have to try, but I do it knowing it is probably futile.
It is possible to fight and still know that you're going to lose.
Oh, and I live in Fucking Iowa which is a hellhole of MAGAt assholes.
