National Parks fee: stupid on steroids

https://www.npr.org/2025/11/26/g-s1-99442/national-parks-fees-international-tourists

"The National Park Service said Tuesday it is going to start charging the millions of international tourists who visit U.S. parks each year an extra $100 to enter some of the most popular sites, while leaving them out of fee-free days that will be reserved for American residents."

U.S. residents pay for the national parks through our taxes plus $80/year for a pass or $35/vehicle to enter a park. I have no problem with non-US residents paying more. An annual pass is $250 for non-residents so I imagine most will end up going this route anyway.

BECAUSE of the 'merikkkans! And I used to work for the NPS. The international tourists aren't much better. I would like to see all the wilderness parks closed for a whole year just so they can sort of recover from the damage done by tourists.
