Trump Teases Wild Plan to Cash in on Airport Named After Himself

The president has been slammed as a “grifter in chief” after it was revealed his company filed trademark applications for “Donald J. Trump International Airport” and similar names.

Palm Beach International Airport, just four miles west of Mar-a-Lago, is in the process of being renamed after the 79-year-old Trump—a name change that, if signed into law, would cost the airport $5.5 million to remake signs, uniforms, promotional products, equipment, and more.

While the measure is still working its way through the GOP-controlled Florida legislature, the president appears intent on ensuring he profits from the name change immediately.

Trademark attorney Josh Gerben, who first reported on the trademark applications, writes that Trump’s holding company, DTTM Operations LLC, is asking to profit from “a range of branded merchandise, including clothing, handbags, luggage, jewelry, watches, and tie clips” associated with three variations of the likely soon-to-be-renamed Palm Beach airport.

That trio of names is President Donald J. Trump International Airport, Donald J. Trump International Airport, and simply “DJT,” which may be the airport code the White House hopes “PBI” will change to.

Florida Republican legislators are diehard members of the cult.

Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, Orlando-Melbourne International Airport, or Southwest Florida International Airport. Bankrupt the Palm Beach (Drump) Airport and let the R's in their state legislature be left holding the bag politically.

8. At one time there were hotels, condos and resorts with Chump's name on them

... but he didn't OWN any of them. He LEASED HIS NAME to those hotels, and his company signed contracts to manage the hotels. That was part of his regular business model, after all the bankruptcies he couldn't get mortgages any more. So owning new hotels became impossible.

He does own a few properties still, like the Bedminster Golf Resort in New Jersey and a couple others. What I'm getting at is that many of the management contracts have been torn up, and his name has been taken off a lot of buildings. Why? Because his name became so toxic after the disaster of his first term, and the failed coup attempt on January 6, 2021.

Now he's back in the White House and he's using it to enrich himself by grifting his own name ... and making Uncle Sam or certain state governments pay HIM for the privilege.

Gonna have to fly into Fort Lauderdale now which is huge, overwhelming and 1 hour away.
He tried this BS a couple years ago and Palm Beach County turned him down. What happened? Is there any hope?

As Florida Republicans prepare to name an airport after Trump, trademark issues loom large

For a president obsessed with self-aggrandizement and self-glorification, Donald Trump has reason to be pleased with recent developments.…

The Republican also recently said it’s “not too late” to change the name of the Gulf of Mexico (which he has attempted to rename once already) to the “Gulf of Trump.”

And now, Politico reported on the latest addition to the growing list:

Florida lawmakers gave final approval Thursday to legislation that would rename Palm Beach International Airport after President Donald Trump.

The proposal will now arrive on Gov. Ron DeSantis’ desk, as the Legislature works out how much it wants to spend — possibly upward of $5.5 million — on a massive rebranding at the airport mere minutes away from Mar-a-Lago
.

.....Just last week, ahead of the vote in Tallahassee, the Trump Organization filed trademark applications for “President Donald J. Trump International Airport” and “Donald J. Trump International Airport,” as well as the possible “DJT” airport code.

The move led to an obvious question: Would the president’s family business try to profit from Florida’s decision to rename the Palm Beach International Airport after him, either through royalties or licensing fees?
