MI-GOV: Anthony Hudson switches to Libertarian Party in bid for governor, says he was pushed out by GOP
Anthony Hudson, a Genesee County truck driver who had been seeking the Republican nomination for governor, has switched to the Libertarian Party, he announced in an interview on X with independent reporter Dave Bondy on Thursday afternoon.
I have decided to drop from the Republican Party, leave the party as a whole, and I have joined the Libertarian Party and Im going to continue to run under that platform, he said, adding that he is currently in the process of filing the paperwork with the Secretary of States office to run as a Libertarian. Im gonna fight for the people away from the two-party system with my new party, the Libertarians.
He said that the Republican Party has a history of hand-selecting candidates to win primaries, implying that he never had a fair shot to win a Republican primary after not being invited to certain candidate forums and debates.
Im gonna move to a party where Im happy, where Im comfortable, where I feel like my policies align with theirs, and they will promote us and we will be a force to reckon with in this election, he added. The Republican Party made it easy for me to want to leave, because thats what they want. Anytime someone questions the authority of the Republican Party, they try to silence you. Im not going to be silenced.
