PA-03: Rabb (D) Will Not Seek Reelection to PA House; Focuses Attention on Contest for Congress
Rep. Chris Rabb (D-Philadelphia) announced Thursday that he will not seek reelection to his 200th Legislative District seat in order to focus on the Democratic nomination for the 3rd Congressional District.
As our campaign for Congress continues to build strong grassroots support across Philadelphia, and is the first in this race to reach 1,000 petition signatures in just 12 hours, I am announcing today that I will not seek reelection to the State House, Rabb said. Im so inspired and overwhelmed by the tremendous outpouring of support we are seeing all across the city, and today I want to send a message loud and clear: I am all in on this race for Congress.
Rabb is one of 13 candidates for the Democratic nomination to fill the seat presently held by Rep. Dwight Evans, who announced his retirement at the end of his term. He raised the third-highest amount in !4 fundraising, pulling in nearly $127,000. But the self-proclaimed Democratic Socialist, who believes democracy must work for everyone not just the wealthy few, is fifth in cash on hand at the start of the year with just under $100,000.
It has been the honor of a lifetime to serve Philadelphia families across the 200th House District for the past 10 years and I look forward to seeing the great candidates who will run, Rabb added. In the coming weeks, Im committed to working with my fellow progressive leaders and advocates across this district to ensure that this seat continues to be held by a true champion for Philadelphias working families.
