If this is about DEPORTING people (and that means sending them to other countries), then why do we need to build concentration camps to hold 1 million people?

That is the Soylent Green question. This is not about "deporting illegals" You don't need concentration camps for that. This is about building the places where Miller and Trump intend to lock up enemies of the state".

If you don't get my point, WE are the enemies of the state. These concentration camps are being built for US.

A deportation facility sounds better to most people than calling it what it is, a human warehouse.

Like Rachel said, “If they build it, they will fill it.”

They are, indeed deporting people. You don't need giant detention centers for that. What you mainly need are courthouses and judges. That is not what the human warehouses are for.

They are for US! They can't deport millions of citizens, but they do believe they can lock us up in big enough numbers to overwhelm the court system and to terrify others who would stand up to the fascists. You can be certain that we are all in their databases, face recognition and all. If you have ever been tagged in a photo on any social media platform, you are in the database. If you have taken a commercial flight any time in the past couple of years, you are probably in their database, and correlated with any posts you have made here, even if you think you are using a pseudonym. If you have gone to a political rally, you probably are in the database. If you use a debit or credit card, your habits are in the database. If you use a cell phone, your favorite locations are in the database, especially if any of them are locations the FBI thinks might deserve extra scrutiny.

And nearly all of that was done BEFORE AI started operating on this data.

They are racing to stand up this network of people cages before the election. They already know whom they would like to put in the cages and it ain't deportees.

Lots of well-connected people have become unimaginably wealthy off that. And in every case -- there are zero exceptions I believe, there are huge bribes/kickbacks paid.

"Totalitarian" China has a population of 1.4 billion. They have about 2 million people in prison. That is less than 2/10 of one percent.

"Freedom-loving" USA has a population of about 340 million. We have 1.9 million people incarcerated (not counting the millions they want to put in these new concentration camps. That is over half a percent. In other words, we incarcerate THREE TIMES as many people per capita as China does.

The median cost to the taxpayers per US prisoner is about $65,000 per year. That means taxpayers are giving about $125 BILLION to these prison systems, most of =which are now private, for-profit corporations. And that is not counting the billions more we are giving to the profiteers who are building these concentration camps. It is big money. That's what Trump likes.

But Bannon and Miller like the cruelty of it. There is something for everyone to like in this system, unless you are inside the cage.

I have been saying this ever since the bill was passed with .millions -- or was it billions? -- of dollars designated for immigration.

If you ever wondered how Nazi Germany got its camps established, this is it. Do it in increments. Call it a detention center for criminals. Pick groups to demonize as "the other" and call them criminals. Promise good jobs and pay to the "real Germans" (real Americans).

Then round up political opponents to imprison along with "the other" in order to maintain power.

This process needs to be stopped now, whatever it takes, before it becomes a larger monster.

OTOH, Perhaps those camps would have a future use for the party that is building them.

Is anyone in NH putting pressure on the construction contractors who are building the concentration camps?

That's just for building concentration camps. The total allocations was something like $140B IIRC.

You can very easily lease a vacant warehouse the size of a city block for a half million dollars per year. Paying utilities, and adding the cages and torture equipment probably takes the cost up to a couple million dollars a year before you bring in the "guests" and feed them their delicious gruel. So going after unused Pep Boys warehouses means that Bannon and Miller have enough money to stand up THOUSANDS of these city-block-sized concentration camps every year.

Standing against the majority republican locals
Then local Dems stood up
Then the community said no
Followed by the town government
And then the NH representation in DC got ready to fight

Then our scumbag Governor went for dinner in DC and “said” she stood up for our local voices - while all along she had denied and denied and denied.

She’s now taking a victory lap.
Republicans are scum.

If they build it, they will fill it.

At the moment, these centers are for immigrants, all immigrants. I've read Stephan Miller and his ilk envision a country with 100,000 fewer people/voters, be it through deportation or prison camps. There aren't enough criminals--the worst of the worst--to fill that quota so they're arresting everyone they can for a tidy bounty per head.

They've tipped their hand because we're witnessing the cruelty, the gleeful predation, the violence.

These camps are meant to produce fear and intimidation. They're a specter of the future for anyone who doesn't measure up, isn't useful or compliant to The Throne.

The threat is simple: Bend the knee or we'll cut you off at the knees.

We're living in The Age of Monsters.

Never forget. Never forgive.

Or give up!
