Statement from Major General (Ret.) Paul D. Eaton, an Army commander during Operation Iraqi Freedom

This says it all...

Men who know more about war than Donald Trump ever will
warned him repeatedly about the risks to American lives by starting a war with Iran.

Indeed, Trump himself predicted casualties in his speech to America.

The Constitution could not be more clear.

When launching wars of choice, especially with American lives in the balance,
the president goes to Congress and Congress authorizes it.

That did not happen, and these operations are blatantly unconstitutional.

More to the point, these operations seem to have no focus.

Trump says they're to keep Iran from getting a nuclear weapon,
but just last year he said we 'obliterated' that program.

It seems to be targeting missile sites, but Trump says it is to stoke regime change.

A war without focus is a war with no tangible goals.
And a war with no goals ends up a Forever War.

Trump said these kinds of Forever Wars would never happen under his presidency.

He lied.

Just like saying he'd lower prices and bring back jobs, he lied.

The Republican Congress must now hold him accountable,
or we will hold Republicans in Congress accountable in November.

And the way the Republicans continue to shield the Orange Hellbeast is reprehensible and GREATLY limits what Dems are able to do. Unless and until at at least a few more Repub reps manage to find their spines, this situation will continue until after the midterms (when Dems will hopefully take back control).

In the meantime, I feel that every effort, including "holding endless hearings" is worthwhile if for no other reason than that such hearings draw attention to the situation and serve as a reminder to the Repubs that they are shamefully shirking their duty.

I am very grateful to Khanna and Massie for continuing to fight for what is right. They are like points of light in a very dark sky right now.

Maybe Democrats should do nothing, since nothing matters.

Dems are screwed and criticized no matter what they do.

our side because congressional approval is not required.

Remember, Obama did not seek congressional approval for military strikes in the Middle East citing his authority as commander in chief.

I don't know where people are getting the idea that congressional approval is required

At the very least you should acknowledge that many observers think that the Constitution does in fact require the executive to obtain congressional approval before launching a war.

The goal is the goal of Israel, which is to slaughter every human being in Iran like they are doing in Palestine.

about their nuclear capabilities, there is resistance building, calling that BS........

SO, they NOW they are claiming because IRAN interfered in U.S. Elections, which is even a bigger lie.....IRAN didn't have the capability to interfere, it was an overwhelming amount of interference coming from RUSSIA, and somewhat from China.....
Our intelligence community was screaming their heads off, especially in the run up to the 2024 election......of course, the first thing Trump did was to emasculate the intelligence community.......among other Agencies......

And of course, there was ELON.......Trump even thanked him publicly for his "computer" help with the 2024 election......
