🚨 The Trump administration just announced it will not release any more Epstein files.
More than half of 6 million documents remain sealed.
Pam Bondis response: The DOJ is done.
Done.
I RELISH the day she goes to PRISON
Republican reaction:
Sen. John Kennedy: Release everything.
Rep. Nancy Mace: The days of cover-ups are over.
Lawmakers are now calling it what it is: The Epstein Administration.
The Deputy AG admitted they withheld images showing death, physical abuse, and injury.
Names redacted. Images hidden. Half the documents sealed forever.
A war started the week the files dropped. Seven Americans dead. $2 trillion erased from markets. The draft on the table.
And Pam Bondi just told Congress and the American people: you dont get to see the rest.
She is relying on a pardon.
The question is what she had to do to earn it.

(1,915 posts)that even absolute pardons won't necessarily keep its recipient from...bad words, nasty mail or whatever, even if pronounced by trump. A trump successor may revoke a pardon through the courts which might uphold it but even an absolute pardon sometimes isn't the best thing to have. (Nixon excepted...but times HAVE changed!) Even "safe" incarceration can be dangerous. Ask Jeffrey, oh wait...

(46,119 posts)I could post a tweet with today's date announcing that the US had just dropped an atomic bomb on Hiroshima. Does that make the tweet accurate?
If you check, what you won't find is any new announcement from DOJ that they aren't releasing any more files. What you will find, for example, is the quote from Nancy Mace actually being from a month ago. https://abcnews4.com/news/local/mace-returns-to-doj-presses-for-unredacted-epstein-files-news-breaking-critical-washington-doj-victims
Sen. John Kennedy has been saying 'release the files' for months.
One of the great things about DU is that if, in fact, Bondi had just said the DOJ is "done" it would have shown up here a dozen times. The bad thing is that one click bait seeking tweeter can fool a DUer into posting something inaccurate and hyperbolic and many if not most DUers would accept it.
All good to know.

(611 posts)Hyperbolic and inaccurate?
How about this comparison? An inaccurate tweet referring to a frequent DOJ announcement topic and an 80+ year old historically monumental event that is common knowledge. Hiroshima being bombed again and Epstein report news? Being fooled by one is nothing like being fooled by the other. I agree google is a nice resource to have, but sometimes unnecessarily difficult to navigate recent news. You seem to be better at using it as a resource than many of us. The nice thing about DU is that it helps many of us parse the info, disfino, and misinfo out there. You have proven to be helpful in that respect. I understand the frustration with the misleading nature of clickbait, as it feels like most of the video link titles make me just a little less informed, but how about offering your correction and just being happy you are useful to this community? No need to make broad generalizations about the intellectual fortitude of the rest of us.

(8,578 posts)A loud mouth on X however bold doesn't represent actual fact. When exactly and on which forum, press release, or in which committee was this said, and by whom??? Before which Judge, Congressional Committee, or in which press conference was this statement made? Where is the official DOJ document which says this is their position or policy?
Was it in answer to a judge's order, a demand from Congress, or the law itself?
I see no date attached to the MS NOW video clip making clear when it was broadcast.
Last time I checked DU was supposed to be a FACT BASED community, or did I read that wrong?

(1,737 posts)It's back to court time. Maybe the Supreme Court will hear it on the same special emergency docket where Trump seems to get his issues heard. "Them" means - Blanch and Bondi.

(2,663 posts)The more they obstruct, the more that Americans are deciding they will have to replace Republicans with Democrats if they ever want to get the documents released. And I'd suggest that is at least part of the reason Kennedy and Mace are calling for the administration to comply.
And every day they refuse, more and more Americans are concluding the Iraq WAR really is an attempt to maintain the cover-up.

(10,976 posts)And, now, after multiple drawings of the feet, delays and bullshit, they are now saying that they will not release any more of them.
So, they are, once again, defying the laws of this nation.
So, when will they all be arrested and charged with contempt as well as criminal acts by refusing to obey the law?
I don't know, but my guess is 'never'.
