Calls for Doordash boycotts after Trump's staged White House meeting
* She makes $22,000 a year. She doesn't even pay federal taxes. On top of that, even if she made twice that her husband's cancer treatment would only cover health care costs for about 2 treatments. And by the way, why isn't her Dear Leader making healthcare affordable?!? Get lost lady...you are a BS MAGA actress and a bad one at that. No one is fooled, they are even more pissed off and Boycott Doordash is what her multiple stunts with tRump resulted in. Get lost and shut up!!!

Several internet users slammed the delivery service for the decision and declared their decision to boycott the company.
"Dear @DoorDash I just deleted your app. I don't do business with corporations that do business with @realDonaldTrump. If I'm not alone, then you should be out of business very soon," one X user wrote."
"The stunt unfolded Monday afternoon when a DoorDash delivery driver named Sharon Simmons from Arkansas stood alongside the president outside the Oval Office for an event aimed at promoting his No Tax on Tips provision of the One Big Beautiful Bill. However, shortly after the event, reports emerged confirming that it was not the first time that Simmons promoted GOP policies.
Simmons also appeared at a Republican-led hearing in Nevada in 2025, where she similarly voiced support for Trump's bill for its tax relief policy, leading many to accuse her of being a GOP operative. The stunt also sparked widespread calls to delete DoorDash".

(1,115 posts)We need to push for better regulations to protect gig workers. That's how you punish those corporations.
Edited to add: This what we should be doing to help the worker and hold corporations responsible. This is a link to new regulations in California. Signed by Governor Newsom las October.

(55,294 posts)Key Aspects of the Indivisible Boycott:
May Day Actions (May 1, 2026): Organizers are pushing for a widespread refusal of "business as usual," encouraging supporters to skip work, school, and shopping to participate in rallies and marches.
Targeted Corporations: The boycott targets major corporations accused of enabling or supporting the current administration, specifically mentioning Amazon, Home Depot, and Target.
Spotify Campaign: Indivisible also launched a "Don't Stream Fascism: Cancel Spotify" campaign, urging artists and listeners to abandon the platform due to the appearance of ICE recruitment ads.
Goals: The campaigns aim to use economic pressure to protect democratic institutions, support immigrant justice by targeting companies tied to ICE, and demand accountability from corporations regarding worker rights and social justice.

(55,294 posts)She said she didn't vote for him 3 times since last time she was moving or something and the paperwork was being processed and she couldn't actually vote.
However, I bet that despite this recent turn of events in her family's health care she would still vote for the fucking moron again and again and again.

(55,294 posts)due to the fact that it would not be successful at the time and in this country.
I keep track of this stuff as an activist. I support national boycotts and strikes but I see things realistically. Planning, timing, etc is extremely important. You have to have 90%- support for it to even begin to be seen as a possible success that would lead to disruptions in the overall governing in the USA under tRump.
There are many factors involved. Until recently half of the USA supported tRump. The USA is HUGE, unlike other countries where national strikes have been successful the USA isn't in the same league. Also, the economy is a factor. More Americans are facing new affordability issues that they didn't expect. This could be a plus for a May 1st strike/boycott. The general popularity of tRump is very low, affordability is very high and the No Kings protests, along with recent local elections, has shown that this could be the right time for a national strike to be a success. I hope so!!!!!

(2,060 posts)The gig workers can not deduct tips because they are independent contractors.

(55,294 posts)I found out this fact by watching Meidastouch. MSM never mentions this stuff. This is why the entire thing was a BS stunt set up by tRump. They know no one gets any real info from MSM and they rely on this to continue their charade and grift off of the presidency.

(17,222 posts)1099 workers need to be in a job category that typically receives tips and keep a detailed itemized log. Food delivery drivers are classified in Category 804.

(3,150 posts)First she wearing a Doordash shirt most Doordash drivers aren't running around wearing Doordash merch and then she pulls up in a vehichle with a Doordash decal on it and even fewer Doordash drivers are doing that. If she made 22,000 her federal tax would be somewhere around 1,00 after your deductions you can maybe get down to 5 or 6 hundred it's nowhere near the 3 or 4 thousand she claimed. With Doordash probably 80% or higher of income is tips as Doordash and Uber have been paying less and less in base pay. A Doordash 1099 isn't broken down into how much of it is tips it's just going to say Nonemployee compensation on line 1. So I'm even convinced the no tax on tips in the big bs bill even pertains to gig workers like Doordash drivers. Even if there were some savings more is being taking away from you with cuts to healthcare alone then throwing in Trump starting a war in the Middle East then your going to be spending even more and more everyday for gas. So there goes your tax break if you even did get one.
Plus a $100 tip to the White House is awful cheap. That may be a huge tip for a normal delivery, but if this were legit just imagine how many time consuming security checks you'd have to go through to deliver to the President of the United States. So they can't even do the photo op right. I think I remember Obama being a more generous tipper then that.
