I doubt that January 6th will be raised during the gunman's trial. But it should be if only to show how the President is, himself, really no better than the gunman who attempted to murder him.

Trump organized and incited the January 6th riot, refusing to discourage the mob he'd created when that mob started going after Members of Congress to kill them -- especially Democrats -- and also to hang Trump's Vice President, Mike Pence. Now the media is framing the horrors of the story as someone almost breaking through security barriers to murder the president. The irony, of course, is that both crimes are identical --- except January 6th was, of course, much worse and much more damaging to America.

...to point out that while I'm sure everyone on DU has it dialed in, it was the first time I've seen it "said out loud" since the dinner. And I haven't heard it said out loud many times before that, either. We talk about it here all the time. I'm thinking of most people I know outside of DU. Hence, the "inconvenient detail" thing was intended as irony / sarcasm.

January 6 isn’t too relevant here. While I sort of get where Mr. Allen’s coming from, emotionally around the way Mr. Trump exploits our long-running political divides, I don’t see his decision as smart. Killing Trump lieutenants and/or Trump himself would only make that problem worse.
