UnitedHealthcare says it fired employee over comments regarding WHCA dinner shooting

by Ashleigh Fields - 04/28/26 5:44 PM ET

UnitedHealthcare on Tuesday said it fired an employee who made sympathetic comments toward the suspect involved in a shooting at the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner on Saturday.

An employee identified as Alison King uploaded to social media a video in which she reportedly said “aww they missed” in reaction to the suspect’s failed plot against President Trump and other officials.

“You know we’re cooked as a country when my first reaction to hearing the news about Trump’s [assassination] attempt was—it was probably fake—I was like, ‘oh, that wasn’t real,’ probably fake,” King reportedly said in the video uploaded to the social platform X by LeftismU.

“And the second was ‘aww, they missed? So happy they missed.’ Oh, yeah. That’s sad. That’s when you know we’re cooked,” she added.
