Text message scam

I just received a text message saying I am delinquesnt on paying a toll in St. Louis County Maryland. There is no St. Louis County in Maryland. I googled St. Louis County in Maryland and confirmed there was no county here by that name.

1. I got one a week or so ago that I had a delinquent parking ticket in Minneapolis and if I didn't pay NOW

the county sheriff would be knocking on my door to arrest me.

It has, literally, been 50 years since I got a ticket in Minneapolis and I promise you, it was paid.

2. These scams make it difficult for legit toll collectors

I ignored one for months, thinking it was a scam. I had to do some serious groveling to get late fees dismissed.

4. There needs to be serious prison time for scammers.

But that means you would have to start with T****, so it's not going to happen.

6. I got a couple of them telling me

I was delinquent paying highway tolls. I haven't been on a tollway in months. When I do go there, I have a device on my windshield. I have a system that sends an email if I need to add money to the tollway account.

7. My cloud storage is out of space, subscription (to what?) is terminated and Andersen wants to sell me windows.

9. i get calls about back taxes that i dont owe.

i actually had an issue, since resolved, w the irs, so i wondered for a while if they were legit. but i know for a fact that the irs doesnt call ppl. they send letters. if they turn it over to collections, they send u a letter. and the agency has to send a letter b4 they call.
they dont claim to b irs, just claim there’s a program that can get what you owe reduced or even dismissed.
i got a few b4 doge, but i’ve been deluged since. there were a couple yrs i didnt have enough income to file, so i wonder if they have stolen doge info. but i think they’re just randos looking for idiots.

and yeah, i just got 1 of those traffic fine texts today. the email addy was so random, and ended in .ru.
i guess idiots live.

have been out there for years. People keep falling for it.
