In a case regarding Louisiana's efforts to block distribution of mifepristone, the fifth circuit issued a decision staying an ongoing FDA proceeding, effectively blocking the availability of the medication. The manufacturers of the medication and others filed an emergency requesting that the of the fifth circuit stay be vacated to allow completion of the FDA proceeding. In the alternative, the petitioners asked for an administrative stay of the fifth circuit decision pending a full, expedited Supreme Court review of that decision. Alito granted the administrative stay request, set a deadline-- this Thursday -- for Louisiana to respond to the request for the fifth circuit decision to be vacated pending full Court review.

That is where things stand at the moment.

For many Republicans men that would be a hard pill to swallow.

If the former, I'm not surprised they would cancel that - people in states that are happy for mifepristone to be available via mail, or in pharmacies, would be suffering "irreparable harm". If the latter, it would be an indication that some of the conservative SC are at least going to hear arguments that access could be restored.

if Wonkette has it right:

On Friday, the Fifth Circuit Court of Right-Wing Nonsense banned the mailing of mifepristone, temporarily blocking a 2023 FDA policy that ended the requirement that the medication be prescribed and distributed in-person — even in states where abortion is legal.
