Health insurance premium increase.

I just received notice that my Medicare Supplement plan, through ACE insurance (a Chubb subsidiary) is increasing.

By 42%!!

So in ONE YEARS TIME, it's gone from $143 to $174 to now $247 a month.

I know I'm not the only one caught in this crisis, but I fear health care in America may be at a breaking point.

I have UHC supplemental and it keeps going up, so I contacted a health insurance advisor and he's sent me a few quotes that are at least $75 less than I'm paying now.
It's worth it.

8. As a practical matter, you generally can't change it at all.

It depends somewhat on which state you are in - BUT - as a general rule, companies are not required to allow you to switch (either level of plan or insurers) AND it they do, they can charge you based on your actual health.

The changes announced now are for plans starting in January - so even if you can find a cheaper plan that will issue you a policy - changing now might mean giving up 7 months of better rates.

Not to mention - your new plan will likely increase in January. That's when the annual rate increases go into effect. So your new policy may be $75 cheaper than your current supplement rate - but might well be higher than the change announced for January.

9. Technically you can, but you have to go through underwritting.

So no guarantee you can get approved for a new plan.

United Healthcare/AARP

This time by ONLY 15%.

We started on it in 2021 and it was $218 total for me and my wife.

With the latest increase, it’s now just under $400/month to cover both of us.

That’s up 83% from 2021 to 2026.

Fortunately, we have the money.

...Medicare Advantage, which they can further decimate.

The can't do shit to Medicare Part A and Part B coverage. Keep it if you can, even at the price.
