I saw this quote today and it so describes what conservatives and magaloons are experiencing today !

Conservatism is the rejection of empathy for others. Once an issue affects them personally,
they adopt the progressive position.

Like that is insufficient to break through their shroud of denial.

"I was ALWAYS right in the past. This is simply a freak incident."

Still Never Dem Vote Ever!! Eastern Oregon is trying to still blame all the gas prices and foood price increases on Dem Govs. Dem Govs has the only buffer we've had between us and total destruction. Every subsidy has been slashed, public transportation... we're already suffering. These jerks get a republican as governor, we lose what little we have left!

1. Why I am a Democrat.
From May 2023

https://www.democraticunderground.com/100217954571

Because Democrats have compassion for others.

• When every person
  a. is guaranteed rights, opportunity, and equity,
  b. can make a good living,
  c. is respected,
then all benefit and the nation benefits.
• Government invests in its citizens.
• Labor and innovation create wealth.
• Productivity gains are shared with those who are less blessed than others.
• Government is by the people and for the people.
• The legal system protects rights, especially of minorities.
In short: equality, honor and fairness.

The thugs have no compassion.
They believe that:
• Money and power are concentrated in the hands of a few.
• Business grows by monopoly aggregation and by stifling competition.
• Freedom means no regulation. Nothing more.
• Government enforces "the economic order" (a caste system)
• Workers and voters are kept from uniting, chiefly by a divide and conquer strategy, i.e culture wars.
• Welfare for the rich. The fraud called "Trickle Down" really means "golden showers". (wink, wink)
In short: inequality, arrogance and privilege

or just outrage over imagined/manufactured fears.

Oh, and they're a cult.

2. Wilhoit's Law (about conservatism)

Wilhoit's law.

“Conservatism consists of exactly one proposition, to wit: There must be in-groups whom the law protects but does not bind, alongside out-groups whom the law binds but does not protect.”

That line—written by Frank Wilhoit—has become a popular aphorism to sum up the hypocrisy and moral bankruptcy of the modern Republican Party.

to them it isn't true or real. I once told a conservative about the marriage penalty in the tax code and he told me I was wrong because when he and his medical student wife got married their taxes were lowest if they filed jointly.
