An Australian cartoonist has coined the term "hegsethed" as an alternative to "blotto", "shit-faced", "sloshed", or.....

.......any of a myriad of colorful terms that the English-speaking world had come up with over the years to denote being drunk. Here is the cartoon in question, "First Dog on the Moon", explaining a well known attribute of British politics.

I recently saw a news segment where a hardy elderly Aussie survived being washed out to sea while kayaking, and he said the worst part was the "mozzies" - I was thinking it was some kind of shark but I looked it up: MOSQUITOS

as he used it in a number of his novels and stories---
but I had never heard that expression for drunk before I started reading a lot of his material in the 1990's....


(of course, the word later took on another meaning which had nothing to do with alcohol....)
